Elon Musk has announced that his artificial intelligence company xAI is developing a video game, promising it will be a "great AI-generated game" and that it will launch before the end of 2026.

The statement was made directly on X, where Musk wrote "the xAI game studio will release a great AI-generated game before the end of next year."

According to the report, the roles are being offered at up to $100 an hour, suggesting that xAI is willing to invest heavily in preparing its technology for the gaming market. This hiring drive aligns with Musk's broader plan to expand xAI beyond chatbots and into new forms of interactive media.

Earlier last year, Musk hinted at plans for an AI-driven game studio, but his latest post is the clearest confirmation yet that xAI intends to release a full game.

People who own AI companies make big grand promises or tell insane stories so they can sell their AI...

I wish ALL the AI tech bros like Musk would shut up, like that one recently about a "rogue AI" that tried to "kill someone". Such BS :messenger_tears_of_joy:

The average person tend to think we're one step away from Terminator's future, the truth is that our AI still mistake a cat for a dog. AI are dumb as fuck but big tech wants you to think it's omnicient thanks to some cleverly chosen examples. Sure they're serviceable but we're far from them being really clever.

It's like an investment vending machine, you insert $20 000 000,00, out pops a AAA game catered to your target market built from analytics as specific as heart rate responses to content, out marches little automated agents that will do your marketing and distribution for you and everything, you just need to collect revenue.

No people, no problems!

It's beautiful.

The rich will get richer, balanced as all things should be.

I look forward to my derivative bullshit game, much needed in a market which is already full of derivative bullshit games from both major studios and indie devs alike.

The guy has the budget to make his own AAA++++ studio and hire a ton of devs to make him whatever game he wants.
That's pointless and non-disruptive, just replace all humans in the entire process so you can sell that repeatedly on demand instead, that's cooler.

No people, no woke bullshit. It's the clankers vs blue hairs era. Purple era making way for Grey era.

There will be so much developer involvement in fixing AI design issues that it might as well be like any other game.

If it's as good as Trials, I'm all in.
I would just ask it to make a few Kojima-authentic sequels to MGS on PS1. That'd be me happy. Hope we get a personal-use non-commercial license to print games. Would rather spend my money on that than on commercial games, honestly.

You probably won't be able to share gameplay via YouTube unless the license allows it. That would be rad as a side hustle.

This could potentially be life changing for gaming streamers and content creators.
