Emulation of the DS touch screen with a mouse....

Do you think the mouse is a suitable alternative? I can't for the life of me even draw a damned circle with a mouse let alone pac man. For turn based games I suppose it would be fine, but the speed that a touchscreen gives is incomparable to a mouse when it comes to realtime games.

Just count me as shocked that the DS isn't rommed out already--the GBA and a title or three were emulated before launch.

No demand.

No development document released yet.

GBA dev doc was released a few months before the GBA was released. Once the documents about the in&out of the DS are released, we'll probably get almost perfect emulation 5 months later.

DS emulation will be slightly more difficult, since -- as far as I've read -- both the data of the cartridges and the commands sent from the CPU to the data pins are encrypted to some degree. In addition, I personally believe parts of the circuitry of the DS are far more customized than that of the GBA, meaning that off-the-shelf emulation itself won't be enough this time.

Having said that, I have absolutely no doubt that, by this time next year, we'll at least have a decent emulator for DS up and running.
