Epic Game Store roadmap.

Wut? lol

Each country has it own economy, currency, taxes, etc.

Regional pricing is a marketplace segmentation tool designed to make richer customers pay more for the same thing. Local taxes or currency exchange rates are just a poor excuse, as the price differences almost always go way beyond any taxes involved (if any, as no goods are moved through any borders).

Or you could view it from the perspective that poorer countries pay less than the comfortable countries because their economy is trash (e.g. Venezuela).

And that's on them. Venezuela was prosperous and things didn't have to be that way.

They are not and government forces you to pay taxes.

Unless you want to be illegal or not cover the costs of your product in some places... you need to price your product according with the country's laws.

There is no way to have the same price across regions... that is just impossible.

What you want is a dream utopian that doesn't work for any market in the world.

But but but it is pro-consumer... nope. No decision will be ever Pro-consumer if it breaks the economy across the market.., the opposite it will harm consumers.

Ah, the old 'fuck you, got mine' mindset.

How very capitalist of you.

What you guys are basically saying is "fuck you, i got mine" mentality.

Regional prices allow people from poor countries to buy games as well, it is no wonder that when there are actually fair prices for them, piracy is reduced as a consequence.

A question for our local armchair economists: If there were no regional pricing, what would decide the baseline price for a given game in a given country's currency?

Should it be sold in the developer/publisher's native currency and then converted for overseas?

Or should it all be in dollars because America America America We Have Freedom And Apple Pie So Fuck Everyone Else Yee Haw?

Because I feel like these takes have not been thought through :pie_thinking:

Lol, you guys forget that 60 dollars can buy you sometimes much more than the same 60 dollars in other countries. Minimum wages and economical differences exist. Stop whinning.

Brainless pricing just hurts economies. A price is given in a place because of statistical studies and how much the target audience can pay. And this is subjective as hell If you just consider only your fucking country. If this pricing definition makes you pay 60 dollar in a given release, it doesn't mean all the other prices around the world have to use the price for the pricing sample definition of YOUR fuckung country (aka USA mostly)

Nope, don't be a lazy socialist free loader.

Do elaborate on how accepting the notion of regional economies, something that has long been a standard in capitalist society, is being a 'lazy socialist free loader'.

Like, what is this, baby's first socioeconomic debate?

Please...keep any political nonsense out of gaming.

Regional pricing conversations are of course totally fine...but if you feel like bringing politics up or trying to label people politically because you don't like their argument, you need to leave the thread, or I can help show you the exit.

The roadmap is pretty clear, it's full of driving by other drivers on the road flipping them off taking their stuff, then going over a cliff once Fortnite popularity fades and the money runs dry.

I know they have Mod Support marked as "Up Next" on their dev timeline, but with it not showing up on their End of Year update, makes me think it's last on the Up next list. MechWarrior 5 just came out and a lot of the die hard community is waiting for Epic to get mod support up and running. PGI the developer has said their editor is done and ready to roll out as soon as Epic is good to go.
