ESPN CFL 2006 !

There you have it folks, the CFL could finally get the recognition it deserves in the form of a visual concepts football title. Sure there are much less teams and all but the rules work better and they could save a bundle making CFL football feilds digitally, must keep them all covered in snow.

This is the only way you'll get an alternative to madden next fall. So its CFL or the highway.

Something else I just realized, Imagine if john madden died of a massive heart attack before this 5 year contract expires ? I mean look at the man, it could happen.

Where would EA be then ?

It is ... inevitable....

They don't ship NCAA games in Canada. The CFL did produce some good players to the NFL like Garcia and Flutie. There are some NFL players that did go to the CFL as well.

Making even more money off of his name. Because "John Madden" the legend would be born.
All music artists name's are worth more dead, in this case it would be no different.
Fence sitter's would feel remoarse.
In all likely hood it doesn't matter. Because we only have one choice. I was looking foward to the next ESPN game.

Football popularity in North America goes NFL, NCAA, Arena, CFL. With the recent NBC TV deal, the winter-spring season (so a game based on the AFL wouldn't be directly competing against Madden), and the more wide open gameplay could lead to a good videogame with half-decent sales numbers.

I'd definitely buy a CFL game, but sadly it will never happen. The CFL is just not popular enough to warrant it's own video game.

Actually it would go ...

NFL/NCAA (depends on how you lok at it, both are tied)
Arena Football
Arena Football 2 (minor leagues)
NFL Europe
High School
Grade School
5 and under
CFL

CFL gets NO coverage here. :lol

VC should go the high school route. Downloadable content for each specific state. Hasn't everybody wanted to take their local high school team to state?

Better yet, each one of the fifty states should get its own game. The market will be flooded with football titles. Madden would never be noticed among hordes of titles like HSF 2006: Maine Edition and HSF 2006: Action in Arkansas. Visual Concepts = WIN.

I don't think his death would stop anything. He'll likely be endorsing football products years after he's dead. It's just a matter sending the checks to whomever is left in charge of controlling his image.

The ideal "new market" football game for me would wrap CFL, Arena and possibly even XFL into one package... get those licenses, which should be available on the cheap and add in a good generic NFL-style league.

If it was done by a decent developer (i.e: VC), I'd buy it just for the novelty as well as a good (or good enough) football engine. It'd be a lot of game for the money. I don't know how hard it would be... basic football skills are generally the same, but the difference in # of players and field sizes could make for some wonky gaming...

XFL was a crap league, but it did offer at least one or two tweaks on the game...

Addendum: I think it would be cool if my hypothetical game also included a USFL license... if that's even possible.

Was going to say revive Mutant League Sports....but those bastards at EA have had their season and hit animated series in a lockout for years. I DEMAND BONES JACKSON!

NCAA games are shipped up here...it's just in very low amounts, particularly on the Sega end.

Anyway, that's the only way to go for VC...unless EA locks that up as well.

Because the CFL deserves recognition?

Because a Canadian Football League videogame would sell any more than a handful of copies?

Because ESPN has anything to do with the CFL?
