European Style Bacon Pork Shoulder

Just tried this for the first time and holy shit! I love me some pork belly cured bacon but damn this stuff is amazing. I've had it in Chinese dishes before but this is my first time cooking with it on a lark when I found it at the market.

So Euro Friends what is superior?

No idea what European bacon is.

American and English bacon has only been sold here in the last couple years.

The Baltics have always had pigs but bacon style cuts are pretty much unknown.

I actually nearly made a thread last week asking how bacon should be made, crispy or not.

Are you talking about just a pork shoulder or bacon made from a shoulder?

For me, a good shoulder with a mustard bark rivals bacon and prime rib as my favorite meat. The juicy meat and the crunchy and savory crust are just fanastic.

That title had me wondering as well.

I've had an American friend try Gammon before and they fell in love with it. It is cured like bacon, I recommend it to those who haven't tried it.

Yeah might be an American Supermarket branding thing but yes it's cured pork shoulder bacon: it's freaking delicious! Actually perfect for home made Ramen as well if you have a good Soy, Miso, or Pork Broth base and some veggies so you don't have to do your own Char Su.
