Something like oasis in ready player one is the ultimate goal but only a huge company like Sony, Microsoft or maybe Epic could pull it off because multiple big franchises both from media and gaming would need to be included.
Something like the oasis is going to be the future because it's more then just a game,but that is like 20yrs off, the "metaverses" that are here and coming in the short term are ot going to be as dynamic as something like the oasis because it would require like 50,000 Devs and a 10yr Dev time.

I think that the "Fortnite" part of the game is a virtual reality videogame inside the "real" part of the game.
Could be criticism of the Metaverse, or play it completely straight, guess we'll find out.

I think that's what they are going for, Fortnite meets GTA online. But it will probably be inferior to both because it's to ambitious and they don't have the resources required.

Everyone should be very skeptical. All the classic buzzwords and no details on what you actually do in the game. My favorite line was "you can have your cake and eat it too". I feel like for most people in marketing, it's moved past this desire to way, way over-promise on what you can deliver. But then again, some people never learn!

And GTA Online is, afaik, kind of a mini-Roblox itself. That's why it has so much longevity.
To be fair - that part of this game concept has been the same for 5+ years and predates mainstreamization of the term 'metaverse' by quite some time.
