KITAKYUSHU -- A man who reconnected the power supply to his home after it was cut off so he could feed his children has been arrested for theft, police said.

The 26-year-old man, an assistant wallpaper decorator from Yahatanishi-ku, Kitakyushu, said he had not option but to steal the power.

"Between March and June I had absolutely no work and I had no option. I put priority on feeding my three children," he was quoted by police as saying.
