Exclusive PS2 RE 4 features confirmed?

They didn't have a budget scheme in place for RE2/3.... though really, Capcom should've just bundled them for $39.99 then (Capcom USA wanted to releases them at $19.99 iirc). CVX was $29.99 iirc, though it probably should've been lower.

Pfft. Capcom USA claimed that Nintendo wouldn't let them sell the games for $20 each, ignoring the fact that 3rd party $40 and $30 titles were already being sold. They could have easily sold a $40 RE2/3 combo package, but Capcom USA figured they could get more cash by selling the straight ports at $40 each.

Capcom USA has a record of blaming Nintendo for their own cost-cutting policies... Mega Man Anniversary Collection was released for $30 and was missing all the remixed music featured on the PS2 port... the official excuse was that there "wasn't enough storage space" -- ignoring the fact that other companies have sold $20 TWO DISC titles (see Ribbit King).

Capcom USA seems to be an overly cheap subdivision of Capcom, filled with PR folks who have a hard time creating believable excuses for their company's money-grubbing policies.

This thread takes me back to Resident Evil on the Sega Saturn. You get nifty extras, but extremely watered down graphics. Capcom's going to hav to work miracles to get the Playstation version running.

Can other any of the [gaming media] here confirm this?

No, but it's such a safe assumption that...well, yes. :)

Just look at Code: Veronica X--I'd expect the same sort of deal. A few new things to make other system owners feel like they aren't just getting a port, and to make suckers like me spend another $50.

Christ, that's nothing. People were making it seem like the PS2 version would inevitably have extra missions or characters. Given the amount of time between versions, this is the bare minimum to be expected.

Don't get angry at him because your stuck getting the PS2 version because you ONLY own a PS2. People on this board have been saying "Wait for the extras, wait for the extras", like they were worth waiting 9 months for and this confirms that the extra content is shit compared to waiting. That's all that he's stating. If you have a problem with that then don't come on the boards after January 11th until the PS2 version comes out because people are going to be having fun with the game and posting about it. Sorry we all can't be "hardcore" like you and only own a PS2. :lol

Do yourself a favor and buy multiple systems and then you don't have to get stuck getting the crappy version. By October I'll have already beaten RE4 a couple of times and will be moving onto Zelda and Xenon so I really don't care what casual gamers will be doing or what system they will be picking up. And if your waiting for the "complete" version you might as well just not buy the game since we all know that they'll make a Cube Director's Cut version and then they'll probably make it a launch title for Xenon. :lol

:lol Oh kiddy, you are TEH FUNNY! I already got my PS2, GCN, Xbox from launch-day and we own 3 of every system in our studio. So what? :lol Nice try!
A little hint: Don't talk about people you don't know! :)
What's up, buddy?! Did I pissed you off because of the word "Nin-fan" and "damage-control"? Sorry, my fault :lol
Oh dear......

I'm getting this on day one for the cube. But if I only had a ps2 I'd probably just wait out the extra year. It's not as if there aren't any other good games coming out right now.

Damn, Nintendrones are sure on Defcon 1 with the damage control.

I'll get the Gamecube version just to keep my GC dust and web free in case they decide to actually release Zelda in mid 2005, and then I'll pick the PS2 version when it hits $20.

RE4 isn't a game I need day one so I'll continue to wait for more solid info on the PS2 version. New weapons & cutscenes are an appropriate but expected start.

I don't think it will be that bad...

Have you played the demo? The GC game really is nowhere near as impressive as we were first led to believe. The level of detail is fairly low on the environment as a whole, most of the textures aren't exactly high-resolution, the game runs in 16-bit color, etc. MGS3 on PS2 looks better than RE4 in a lot of ways. Now, being a port, I don't expect this to look as good (and it likely will not offer 480p either) and I'm buying it for GC...but I don't think the PS2 is going to struggle with RE4 as much as we first thought.

The one aspect that could present a problem is the sheer number of enemies that can appear on screen. They are all decently detailed and move around somewhat complex environments. PS2 is no slouch when it comes to throwing around geometry, of course, but we'll have to wait and see...
