Agreed. The first one was about street racing with a bit of a twist with Paul Walker’s character being an undercover cop.

I didn’t even like the heist part all that much as I was hoping the movie would be a pure street racing movie.

Now they’re the Avengers.

The franchise took a big turn around episode 5, when it moved from "robbers with cars + street racing" to "stuff you did with your toys when you were a kid" (like "GI joe crashing a train into a helicopter on fire"). It's mostly dumb fun. I didn't really care for the first 4 movies (first one being a rip-off of Point Break btw), but I enjoy the new style for what it is.

I hated the first few because they took themselves way too seriously, trying to be cool hard and edgy and ultimately it was some stupid boy racer film.

The latest ones are just goofy action flicks that don't take themselves seriously and are quite entertaining.

The first movie is awesome and started a huge boom in the tuning scene where I lived back then, and massively contributed to raising prices of Mk. IV Supras from maybe 5 grand to ten times that ( 20 times that in the US, and more). I loved the movie. Two and three are different but I still like them. The other movies kind of blur together into a mess of nonsense and explosions in my mind. Now with Paul Walker gone, and with the ever increasing dumbness of the franchise, I don't even think I'll ever watch this.

I'm sure in a parallel universe, "The Sopranos" spawned a series of 9 action movies with increasingly insane stunts and outlandish situations

While the movie does look like an exciting action flick that is perfect for the blockbuster theater season. I just can't help but kinda feel let down seeing Fast and the Furious but not getting the street racing experiences that we got from like... the first 4 movies. Granted I actually like 5 a ton despite it being a heist movie and not really a true FNF(based off the originals intention) title.

Will still watch this as it looks like a decent fun film to blow some cash on at the theaters for the explosions and craziness.

That the best people can say about it is "It's just dumb fun. Enjoy it" says a lot about the state of hollywood.

No offense to those who are excited. I have friends with really high standards who mock me for liking the MCU.

Serie changes in the 4th movie. From that point it becomes some sort of Impossible Mission but with cars. For me it's really fun. 7th movie is my favourite.

Did nothing for me. Why?

Seen it all before.

- Giant magnet tech causing chaos. Looks similar to the auto driving cars in the previous one causing all sorts of chaos in the city before Dom hacks open an armored car.
- Big trucks being thrown about.
- Vin Diesel and the characters are pretty much super human now.
- Lettie freaking out when Dom's about to do something stupid. Seen it all before.
- Dom's brother is now the villain. Next movie Dom's uncle will be the villain.

At this point this is all becoming routine. Just the same old fucking shit over and over. Is no one interested in a change of tone with these movies?
