Is it possible to tag somebody who's, gasp, not on facebook? I know somebody who all my friends only know by her first name, and she's not on the site, but it just keeps recommending people to tag with her same first name. If I press enter, it tags the fist person with her name in alphabetical order. It's bullshit. I'd like to tag her so that my family members know what her name is, but facebook has somehow made it impossible to do this.

You can tag what you want, where you want.

You can tag images with what ever you want, but on statuses and replies you can't tag someone without an account.

Facebook assumes you're typing a friend's name if the letters correlate but you're free to ignore that (you have to click on the suggestion for the link to activate). I've mentioned my mates plenty of times without having their name link to their profile. (Another edit: But then I suppose that's not really tagging.)

Edit: FYI, OP, Facebook has its own de facto OT here.

I'm not sure many gaffers would be willing to post their FB links, as thousands of people lurk these forums as well.. and not enough of us are willing to go through the hassle of creating an alt FB account.
