During Anime Expo 2024, we had the opportunity to interview the president of developer Nihon Falcom, Toshihiro Kondo.

We primarily discussed the recent Western release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak, the upcoming Western release of Ys X Nordics, and Falcom’s future.

In one exchange, we brought up the increasing regularity of remakes and remasters in the industry and explicitly noted Kondo’s yearning to remake Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom of Sand.
Soon afterward, Kondo revealed to us that Falcom is working on a title that “could be considered a remake.” Details on the game itself weren’t given, but fans should expect to hear news before the end of this year.

You can view the partial quoted exchange below:
Azario Lopez: As remakes and remasters become more of an option, is it tough not to want to go back and re-develop some of these stories?

Toshihiro Kondo: It’s a bit tough as a creator not to want to go and maybe touch up these old games and remake them. It is definitely a desire as a creator to do that. Honestly, I can’t talk about the details, but there is a title that we’re working on that could be considered a remake. Expect to hear about this title before the end of this year.
We’ll share our full interview with Toshihiro Kondo later this week.

"Falcom announces they're releasing the 57th remake for the year"
Shocking news!

It's time for that big budget remake of Faxanadu.
That would actually be cool. Which means it won't happen. The IP is probably tied up in some sort of legal hell because i think Hudson part owns it.
It'll more likely be the 15th remake of some generic PSP legend of heroes game.
