Stargate Universe
Premires 2nd of October, Scifi (Syfy ugh)

2j0nxoh.jpg

Cast: Robert Carlyle, Justin Louis, David Blue, Brian J. Smith, Jamil Walker Smith, Alaina Huffman, Elyse Levesque, Ming-Na, Diamond Lou Philips, Christopher McDonald

Third series in the Stargate franchise. Set aboard an Ancient space ship on the other side of the Universe that's set on a predetermined course. It's old, the ship is falling apart and there is no way to get home, wait too long and you'll get left behind. A darker and story arc'd Stargate

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjMklXxn6JU&hd=1
That will only be good if it resembles the first seasons of SG1 but it's probably gonna be more like Atlantis and therefore it will suck : /

I've never watched Stargate before, so if I start with SGU, will I be baffed?

Also, Jessica Lucas from Cloverfield is in Melrose Place! Is anyone going to start a new thread for this show tonight?

Is this that hot Black chick from Cloverfield?

Yeah! :p

Yup, yup. That's her. I thought she looked familiar but I couldn't figure out where she's from until someone else on another forum pointed this out.

Just use this one to avoid duplication:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=362355

Someone needs to make one for Glee though. I'd do one myself but it's bed time here. I'd do it tomorrow if no one else has done it.

I'm not going to watch it but she's pretty damned hot, actually, that movie was stacked in terms of hot chicks.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
V and Flashforward are given.

Is that really it in terms of new shows?

Community, Flashforward and V I'll give a chance. Everything else is forgettable and the Vampire thing looks so fucking lame it's unreal, it's like twilight or some shit.

Is it a requirement to look like a douchebag on this show?

Even average looking people arn't allowed to front teen shows anymore. Looks like the poster for Aliens in the Attic - they looked like the exact cast we'd get if they remade Goonies - straight out of a Calvin Kline for Kids poster. Even Chunk would be played by a flawless 20 year old.

I give Robert Carlye one season of running around forests in Canada before he wishes he'd taken that job as the 11th Doctor Who. :lol :lol

Eastwick? Wow, they didn't even wait for Updike's corpse to cool off before starting to piss. Eh, oh well. Not like it was one of his better properties to begin with.

atm it kinda looks more like nBSG meets SG1 (which sounds awesome IN THEORY)
Eastwick looks interesting... althrough I can't quite make out what it is suposed to be, but fuck it, it has 3 witches ala Charmed, I'll watch it

from that list i'll also watch:
-Community
-maybe FlashForward depends on the first 3 episodes
-maybe V, depends on the first 3 episodes
-The Vampire Diaries, depends on the first 3 episodes

edit: holy shit mindfuck

I might watch Glee; the pilot was okay, but parts of it bugged me. Modern Family seems like it might be good, as does Community.

Caught the pre-air leak of Modern Family. it was actually really good imo, better than Community which was also funny.

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.

The whole "different forested planet" thing every week is also out.

Yeah. And I kind of liked Atlantis the first couple of seasons. But then they just seemed to get lazy, and there was no more wonder about the Ancients and it was SG1 with less missions.

I'm mildly interested in Fast Forward and will be checking out the V remake, everything else looks dreadful (A remake of Melrose Place? Seriously? The 90210 one was terrible). American TV was great for a while, but it's really had a drop off in quality the past couple of years, Mad Men being a noteable exception.

joshcryer

it's ok, you're all right now
Awesome thread, I'll check out V, Flash Forward, Vampire Diaries and SGU (SG:A sucked balls and SG1 fell apart at the end, but I can always use some new scifi).

Holy fuck. First off, that there's another GAFfer who watched due South. Also at him still acting. Thought he dropped off the Earth after dS was cancelled.

Stargate Universe.

Fuck yes. This season is going to rock. Add that plus the NFL, Fringe if I can stomach its slow pacing, Heroes (why do I torture myself so), Big Bang Theory, How I met your mother, and I plan to see whats up with this True Blood show and I should have a pretty good time until at least Jan.

Did anyone besides me like Cougar Town? I felt like that show has real potential and I really like Courtney Cox. I do hate that Bill once again put his wife in the show, what is his obsession with this? Think she won't get enough exposure and will fade away?

Is there ANY way to watch HBO shows without actually having HBO? I have never seen Curb, The Wire, Sopranos or their recent shows. I'd love to, but at school I don't have satelite like I do at home.

If you're talking about an online service like Hulu, then no. Not that I'm aware of anyway.

That show was surprisingly filthy for being on ABC.

Courtney Cox (who is pretty hot for like 50) was flashing some teenager riding his bicycle and then gave a blowjob to her son's 17 year old friend by the pool and all sorts of shit in just the ~20 minutes pilot episode. I'm not sure how they managed to get away with stuff like that on basic television.

she flashed her underwear, not a big deal. and the blowjob was never called a blowjob. you can only guess thats wat she was doing. maybe she was messaging his thighs

She did not give a blowjob to her son's friend - that guy was the one he picked up from the bar, making him early 20s at least.

Short list of the best stuff on TV.

Friday Night Lights
Big Love
Sons of Anarchy
It's Always Sunny
The Office
Parks and Rec
Community
30 Rock
Fringe
Curb Your Enthusiam

And stuff to DVD

Arrested Development
Angel
BSG

The Wire
etc etc etc.

You had a really bare list. Catch up!

Edit: Bolded what would seemingly go best with your tastes, not the best shows.

i'm probably the only one, but i'm strangely fascinated by this scott bakula / andre braugher / ray romano vehicle on tnt called MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE. pretty much completely because of bakula and braugher, but whatever, i can stand some romano if it's interesting in the least for those other two dudes.

Nice to see some love for Cougar Town on GAF. Was expecting something like Desperate Housewives when I first watched, and came away thinking it was more like Weeds (the earlier
good
seasons)

Seems like it belongs on HBO/Showtime though, and will probably get toned down in future eps methinks.

If you liked Day Break (which I also love btw) you might want to check out Journeyman. It's another show that sadly got cut short but even so it's still a good watch it doesn't come to a 'proper' conclusion but it doesn't leave too much up in the air and lets you interpret where it would've gone for yourself.
