Fall Anime 2025

Mistake

Fall season is here, and while there doesn't seem to be any spooky anime with the lineup this year, there's still a decent number of things to follow.

My top pick this time for returning shows is Fumetsu no Anata e. Episode one felt a little rushed compared to usual, but still an easy watch with a solid story

Next we have Spy x Family. Still as cute as before, with a nice animation style to boot. I like how balanced this series is when it comes showing all the different characters

Boku no Hero Academia is now on its (allegedly) final season. Will Mr. Hands finally get a hug? And will All For One keep his face for more than three episodes? Tune in to find out. I'm only still watching just to finish it, the tension left two seasons ago

One Punch Man has also returned. Honestly, the storyline for this and My Hero feel quite similar, so I barely remember what's going on with how long this show has been afk. The good organization is still fighting the bad organization, and Saitama is there to make sure none of it matters

If you like new recipes, try out Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi. I actually enjoyed season 1, and they do a good job of making the food appealing. A fun watch

Gachiakuta is also continuing this season, which I'll follow

For new stuff we have Saigo ni Hitotsu dake Onegai shitemo Yoroshii deshou ka. Haven't seen it just yet, but sounds like a princess that goes around punching people in the face
5ibDRm0MfjhcZyTH.jpg

Toujima Tanzaburou wa Kamen Rider ni Naritai is about a 40 year old guy that joins a gang and becomes a masked bike rider. Seems like it could be amusing
8qiB6MxBOqTmMJcQ.jpg

Gnosia sounds like an anime version of Among Us. Apparently this is adapted off it's own game though
0IpnERkVSeeCCpOC.jpg

Sanda. A boy transforms into Santa Claus to fight evil. Reminds me a bit of Undead Unluck for some reason. Could be worth a watch
DPROxTajfS6haght.jpg

Mugen Gacha. The main character Light is betrayed by each race of the land and left for dead. With his unique Gacha ability he sets out for revenge
HinyYVnoH97kyfqT.jpg

Sutetsuyo. Akira and his class are suddenly teleported to another land. But why do his stats far exceed everyone else's? With his new assassin class, he goes out to uncover the kingdom's sinister plot

Honestly, I'm not sure about any new series this season. Looks lackluster. If you have something you're into, I'll add it in

MHA last season and this season is currently going through what I like the most about shonen, the thing that DBZ and JJK's recent season mastered, that adrenaline rush of 'edge of your seat' moments and action that cliffhanger just perfectly into the next episode.

It's a shame it had to go through 2 weaker seasons to get to this point, but the payoff has been worth it so far. Hopefully they have some sort of comeback story with growing their audience numbers and hype back to what it used to be.

Bleach TYBW is also on the way this fall right? Or is it winter?

I'm here for spy x family and MHA.

Netflix still has quite a few episodes of Fragrant Flower left to upload too, which has, so far, been my favorite show this year.

I am here for Gintama.i like the princess punching one but I am not sure how long a one trick pony can last.

Rider seems interesting as well. There is one called something like The Color of Ramune which seems like it will be amusing enough.

Lastly, I am looking forward to the end of MHA.

Here's where I am right now:

Gachiakuta (continued): Beginning to enter a stride, as battle shounen is wont to start slow. Episodes 6, 12, and 13 have been the best so far. Biggest nitpick so far has been Aoi Ichikawa as the protag Rudo - he sounds like too much of an annoying, green gremlin. Rest of the voice cast is solid. Can deliver some good stories or action when it gets going, but I'm still not 100% in.

Spy x Family S3: Continues to be mid outside of Anya antics. The first segment of the first episode has probably been the best part of this season so far and is a microcosm of Spy Family itself: Anya reads Bond's mind of incoming disaster and comes up with a bad solution she's (self-)satisfied with to/that coaxes her parents along, Loid outperforms an expert to prevent a crisis, and Yor finds a rescue task she resolves with her super strength so that she's not left on the sidelines doing nothing. A crane battle is pretty novel though.

My Friend's Little Sister Has It In For Me!: I was in the mood for romcom trash and this looked the trashiest airing. Main girl is the hot imouto-type who teases at every juncture. Thumbs up for her design and performance - I mistook Sayumi Suzushiro for another seiyuu from some of the energy she was channeling. Just about every other element of the production is mediocre at best, with some of the miscellaneous classroom banter being clear, bottom-of-the-barrel, LN slop. Not a good sign that the main rival girl is unlikeable and grating (there was a moe they were aiming for, I think, but the voice needs to match for that work). KanaHana's voicing the teacher and she gets a couple good lines but even she can't save this script.

Dusk Beyond the End of the World: The premise and it being a PA Works original hooked me, but its delivery of a postapocalypse has been mixed (and any such settings in anime immediately invite comparison to From the New World in my mind). There is some amount of consideration for the context of the new civilization and mindfulness of the protag but it's not been consistent. The action has been a fun spectacle, and the info feed drip has been satisfactory (if somewhat predictable). The real demerits so far have been literally tongue-twirling villains that made me wonder if the director was switched between scenes. It's offensively bad and has me questioning other elements of the show.

Sanda: The best of the batch so far. Original concept, the characters and script work so far, and the shows looks great (studio Science Saru). I've heard a few people say that it doesn't look good - pretty crazy take imo. The designs are not conventionally cute, but the art and animation are both great. Feel like this one could be a frontrunner this season. Someone whose opinion I trust read a bunch of the manga and liked it, so here's hoping.

based on the 1st episode of OPM its safe to say it'll be absolute dogshit thanks again to JC staff who have absolutely no idea how to animate yet they somehow got the job for a heavily animated series. Im expecting them to split MHA into 5 parts and milk it for another 10 years just like AoT which fucking sucked and could never reach its s1/s2 peaks.

No new spokons?
In manga form. Go read "Dig it"

Watching Sanda, I read the manga as it was getting scanned and liked it. Don't expect a generic battle Shounen, the trailers are misleading a little bit.

I did wanna watch Touring after the apocalypse but I might just read the manga instead.

There's some anime on Amazon as well called Ninja VS Gakudo animated by Studio DEEN, I might watch that but I will expect it to mediocre.

Forgot to cancel Crunchyroll so I have it for an extra month.
But nothing this season is really speaking to me. I guess Sanda looks like it could be fun.

In addition to Spy X Family, I had my eye on a few series. The first is a remake of Cat's eye from Lidenfilms, classic shounen jump series about thieves.

The second is a new Digimon TV series by Toei.

I usually stick to the classic stuff instead of the remakes. I tried before and they always change things unnecessarily or censor

I don't think this is happening because they instead followed the other path of 'releasing a secondary series in the same universe' which is MHA Vigilantes. That show also has a multitude of characters from this one and takes place around the same timeline.

If anything I suspect they will do a 'MHA Shippuden' sequel show with an older Deku, depending on the property's success.

Sanda is fantastic so far, SxF never disappoints and Gachiakuta just keeps getting better and better (can't wait to see Dear Santa and Guita in action). Nice, chill season so far

My Hero has been good so far. Fumetsu seems to skip a bit still, like its pace isn't the same, so maybe I'll pick up the manga and see what's up

Are the fights at least good?
I could sort of understand if they have a limited budget and they are cutting corners where possible so they can put most of the time/budget into the fights.

Episode 3 should have a fight scene, so I'm not sure just yet

Man, I'm not keeping up with anime lately but I had to see how they were adapting Gachiakuta.

I liked a lot the 1st opening, but the 2nd but Mori Calliope is actually fire. Urana truly is the successor of Okubo.

A banger of an opening with almost no spoilers.

Sanda is another manga that I'm caught up but I'll wait for the season to end before watching it.

Looks like they chopped up the PV to make this

Nah the fights are shit too.
Was dying watching him trying to do his water breathing motions

Just looking at their weird faces and form. Probably a nope for me.

I didn't know that Nobody's Boy Remi finally had an English version release this year. I also put the full series link in French as it was made available by the rights' owner. If there's something you need to watch with your kids it's this anime. Absolutely brutal life lesson to be had. I just finished it as I got it on Blu-ray (I remembered it watching on TV as a kid) and if you suffer from dry eyes this will be your cure.

Five episodes in and the final season of MHA is a banger so far, hope it keeps up the pace. Anime/manga in general seems to love giving its villains tragic, relatable backstories, and MHA certainly does its share of this as well, though I appreciate the swerve with All For One's backstory being "nah, dude was just born evil".

Most manga completely shits themselves when it comes to endings but so far MHA has been a masterclass in payoffs and completing character arcs and themes. I'm very surprised that the manga readers hated it but I suppose it could still go off the rails. Either way I'm glad I ignored the manga.

Outside of the biggest titles, the only one that kept my interest was Mugen Gacha. I didn't get around to Kamen Rider, but I saw some clips that were good. OPM has been a complete shitshow. Only one good episode the whole season, and now they're censoring it

Censoring how?

I've kept up with the same five I started a few months ago:

Gachiakuta (continued): Still inconsistent. A lot of the cast I could pass on but it has built some intrigue, had a few good fights, had a few good episodes in general. The Amo stretch is the best part of the show's run. It can be very creative directorially and visually but only when it has the material to work with.

Spy x Family S3: Same. Consistently good when Anya's the focus, sometimes alright when Yor (and it's not all off Saori Hayami's back, which is working hard regardless), usually bad with Loid. Bus arc got a few laugh out louds from me.

My Friend's Little Sister Has It In For Me!: Still trashy ofc. Suzushiro's still putting in work as the hot, cheeky imouto. Not a recommendation by any stretch though.

Dusk Beyond the End of the World: Big letdown. I saw it coming from the first couple episodes, but spending the majority of the runtime faffing about, and poorly, is weak, and never replicating the bloody spectacle from the first episode feels like a cheap bait. However, while it's still dumb, there have been fewer comic book villains since the start (or at least... they've been funnier), and considering that together with the general attractiveness of the show has made it an easy watch. Anyway, I'm a little more intimately familiar with the curse of the PA Works original now.

Sanda: Still the best show of the season, and the only one I've seen anyway with a really original concept in the hands of a competent author and a skilled anime production studio like Science Saru. Sanda tends to be on the denser side though so ironically I'm not in a hurry to watch each new episode.

Gachiakuta Episode 21 has more animation than the entire 3rd season of OPM

OPM S3 has been such a travesty. Loads of terrible AI gen shit in it with zero QA done afterward.

Saigo ni Hitotsu dake Onegai shitemo Yoroshii deshou ka & Gnosia have been pretty good for new shows.

I liked the bus hostage situation episodes & the flashback episode of Spy x Family, but the filler stuff has been just meh.

I've been watching Sutetsuyo, and this guy is the worst assassin I've ever seen in my life. Three episodes now crying about having to kill someone

So My Hero Academia actually managed to stick the landing, which is something of an anomaly for a long-running shonen series. Incredible final season and a great series overall. There are a couple arcs which could have been trimmed down, but it was a relief that the story didn't overstay its welcome for multiple years like Naruto did. There is an additional manga chapter published some time after the original finale that wasn't covered in the final season, but it's widely rumored to be adapted in the form of an OVA at some point later on. (Edit: Confirmed at Jump Festa, releasing May 2).
