There's an extensive 6 minute preview from Qore Ep36 on the upcoming Old World Blues DLC including interview clips with Chris Avellone, Jason Bergman, Veronica Belmont, and Roger Cross. There's also a ton of footage from the DLC itself. I'll summarize the info from the preview for discussion.

Warning there will be marked spoilers below regarding the Dead Money DLC. If you have not played Dead Money yet you might not want to highlight.

- Old World Blues takes place in the Big Empty, a high tech facility area consisting of various labs and buildings. There is outdoor exploration as well as many indoor areas.

- The Big Empty is run by a group of scientists who are literally floating computers with 3 monitor screens. Their original brains are in jars somewhere, which they're trying to use the Courier to recover.

- The theme of the DLC is high-tech stuff, and that extends to all the weaponry and equipment you can find/make in the DLC. Everything looks advanced and energy based, even the big melee weapon. Veronica Belmont provides the voice for an advanced medical armor, which provides helpful voice tips and feedback if you have it on.

- Early in the DLC you will get a Sonic Emmitter pistol weapon, which apparently you can upgrade throughout the DLC to give it more functions and abilities. It's implied that using the facility you can also build/upgrade other cool weapons.

- The Big Empty has various talking appliances like a toaster, and other wacky shit. Avellone says the goal of this DLC is to explore the dark wacky humor of the Fallout universe. Veronica Belmont also voices the light switches found throughout the facility. Yes, you get to "turn her on". Lol.

- Veronica Belmont will also voice a story character in the DLC, and Roger Cross will voice Ulysses.
Belmont provides a new voice for Christine from Dead Money (her original voice?), who will reappear in this DLC. OWB is also where the Courier will encounter Ulysses for the first time, after being hinted at so strongly in Dead Money. Could this be part of a flashback? Or will there be sometime stranger going on...

- Aside from Lobotomites, the enemies in OWB will also include robo-Scorpions, robo-dogs, and at one point you see a mini-Securitron for a split second.

Overall, this looks like possibly the most ambitious DLC yet for NV, and it looks really, really fun. Can't wait. Recently there's been a rumored 14th June release date rumored, but Jason Bergman shot that down on the official Fallout boards today. So we'll have to wait a bit longer.

Edit: Old World Blues will be out on PC/PS3/Xbox360 on 19th July 2011.

Sounds excellent, can't come soon enough. Dead Money was pretty meh and draining, but Honest Hearts was a big step up. I hope this one blows them both out of the water.

Ugh. Two more weeks! Go faster, time! I'm probably going to get the pulse gun before I head out there. Should kick some arse.

It's going to be more than 2 weeks. It's not coming out on 14th June.

FFFFFFF. Damnit, the Fallout wiki lied to me! Well, it's still supposed to come out this month. If not on Tuesday the 14th, then at least by Tuesday the 21st.

Yeah I think 21 and 28 are both possible dates. Hopefully it's 21st June and we get an official announcement at E3 next week.

In regards to that,
I think its going to be some video footage or something of Ulysses rescuing Christine from what Elijah did to her. We're not actually going to "encounter" him

Heh, I'm secretly hoping that they let the DLC loose over E3 week...

Yeah, that's possible. The only other explanation would be
time travel, which would be really lulz. Hopefully they don't do that.

I'm confused about how she is there at all
given that DM ending stated she didn't think about the courier again until she heard about the battle at the divide - maybe there will be cloned copies of Christine and even of Ulysses as well?

Christine and Ulysses were there before, so it's either a flashback which you see on some monitor like hemtae suggested, or there is some stupid time travel going on where you go back in time to the moment where she was there with Ulysses.

In Dead Money
it is stated that Christine tracked Elijah to the Big Empty where he trapped her in the machine and did some brain surgery or something on her and left her to die. She only lived because a courier saved her and gave her a new lead on Elijah leading her to Sierra Madre

No doubt I will purchase this day 1.

This also raises the level cap right?

Yup and the Lonesome road will also raise it

Old World Blues will also give you an option to cap your level at 30

Thanks for the replies I should have prefaced that
I knew she was there previous but I couldn't think of a good way (didn't think about something like previously recorded footage when flashback was suggested - which could work) or reason behind having her show up other than, as you suggested, going off the deep end with time travel. Maybe if the mad scientists cloned her we could even see her as companion again!

Has there been any indication about companions for OWB?

No signs of potential companions for OWB yet, but maybe they'll treat the talking armor as a sort of companion who's stuck onto you?

I liked Dead Money more than Honest Hearts. Honest Hearts, I'd played before (metaphorically). Dead Money was like a brand new experience in the new Fallout universe. I was low on health and ammo the whole time, running frantically from ghosts and deciding who to work with. Really rich experience. Shame they couldn't allocate more time to the textures. If they just spiced up each little corner with it's own design it would have made the game great.

I hope some awesome modder is working on that right now....

Saw this earlier. Everything sounds fantastic, looking forward to hearing more from Christine, also.

Now.. If I could just get to play Honest Hearts...

Anyone got any ideas when HH will be coming to Europe? :(

Ulysses sounds great. So excited for GOTY now. It better drop within like a month of Lonesome Road or i will flail my arms and gnash my teeth!

.
Love the pincers :D

I don't think you have too much to worry about. At least I hope not. I can respect and understand the determination not to buy digital content!

ive come really close to breaking it. If i wasnt so broke atm i probably would have bought Dead Money at least. lol

edit: lol oh sorry.. wasnt thinking. i just saw them as news on a Fallout site and didnt see any watermarks. i should have made the connection to Qore.

Yeah, err, I know this seems silly, but don't post stuff from Qore here. It's still technically a retail digital magazine on PSN, and we don't allow magazine scans and stuff. So.... yeah. Lol.

Bring it the fuck on.

Theres nothing I love more than energy weapons and this looks to be a MZ-like treasure trove of em.

I picked up Qore 36 with the free PS+ subscription from the Welcome Back package. Everyone else with a PS3 should do so too. Pretty good well rounded preview of the DLC. Some additional details I noticed:

- The premise of OWB is that you get captured by the Think Tanks (team of floating brain scentists with monitors for eyes and mouths) and they have... taken your brain. To get your brain back, you have to do as they say (????lol!!!!).

- There's a K9000 weapon, which looks like some sort of grenade launcher firing big shells, but it has a cute illustration of a dog on it, and it looks like there is a tiny brain which is part of the gun (a dog's brain??).

- The tiny Securitron is a NPC named Mugger, with a mug on the screen face, and he asks for mugs. Wut.

- One of the first quests the player gets in OWB is to go find certain personalities for each of the appliances in an area known as the Sink, which is a place the player can upgrade apparently. The personalities are optional characters which can actually be completely ignored (including the Light Switches!).

- I also noticed that there might be in fact a plot explanation for why the advance talking armor in OWB is the same model as the Assassin's Suit in Dead Money. Then the player finds the suit, the lab area has stuff on the chalkboards debating about how to improve the "Stealth Suit", and so on, and one of the suggestions looks like something about having different colored suits or something. Lol.

The toaster personality seems hilarious.

Speaking of voice acting has there ever been a series in gaming that had the variety and sheer amount of known names and talent for voice acting as the Fallout series?

Only thing that comes to mind immediately is Mass Effect, I guess. Fallout has really had a lot of great voices over the years.

Jace Hall was a great choice, guy is hilarious.

This DLC will remind me a lot of last Brotherhood of Steel missions in Fallout 3 and DLC Broken Steel. Hope to get a stealth suit soon or something else special. There will be a lot of fun.

I just "stole" the preview off of youtube. I want that energy axe sooo bad. Takes me back to my favorite weapon in Wasteland, the proton axe. Hope it's equally as bad ass damage-wise.

So this is like the EPA from FO2?

The Big Empty (aka Big MT Research and Development Center) is based on the Big MT Training Facility which was a planned location for the original Fallout 3 (Van Buren). Chris Avellone worked on the original Big Mt Training Facility design documents, and he is also the director and writer of Old World Blues.

The best darn series DLC in this industry these days. The gameplay may be vastly different, but the spirit of Fallout lives on!

Just some small news from Fallout.Wikia about Old World Blues.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Veryblackraven/Old_World_Blues_relelease_date_-_July,_19th

Recently Bethesda Softworks has revealed in their blog the release date for an upcoming Fallout: New Vegas DLC Old World Blues. It will come on July, 19th for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Before the release of DLC a new patch for Fallout: New Vegas will be released, not only adding support for Old World Blues, but also bringing improvements to performance and stability in major areas.

A new trailer for Old World Blues will also be released in the coming weeks.

Old World Blues - 19th July
Lonesome Road - 28-30th July ?

Why not, I will love to have them both in July only if they will not change Loneseome Road date as well.
