Fallout New Vegas |OT| Obsidian does what Bethesdon't

As far as things to do, "killing everybody in Caesar's camp" comes up surprisingly frequently when I hear stories about this game. :D

My last run for trophies had me join the Legion, god I was such a dick.

Seems like the game was designed for the average player to murder the legion. Hell, I'm about 40 hours in and aside from Arcade, Boone has been the only human companion I've even encountered. Making him as awesome as he is only promotes the average player to keep him around, and we all know what happens when he gets around the Legion. There's been times when I feel like telling Boone to take a hike just for the sake of change, but in the spirit of companionship in the desert, it seems I just can't quit him.

Incorrect. You can get the BoS to align themselves with NCR. You gain infamy points with the NCR , but they still go along with your choice.

I think pickpocketing is broken. I started a new playthrough so I could get my sneak up to 100. I'll be in the "hidden" status yet I still get caught 75% of the time, even when the person is sleeping.

I'm pretty sure it's the same in Oblivion and Fallout 3. I think having high sneak skill only makes a successful pickpocket more likely, not guaranteed. The weight and value of what you're trying to steal might also be a factor. What are you trying to steal exactly?

Also, from Fallout wiki:

NPCs laying in beds may appear to have their back to you and still detect you, this is because as far as the game is concerned they are not facing the way they are laying down, that is merely an animation. To get "behind" an NPC laying in bed, go to the foot of the bed.

I used a mod so that he wouldn't shoot at every legionary he saw, then we went in with the ferry and started shooting every legionary we saw.

Sort of breaks his character but whatever, I'd like to think he's reasonable enough to restrain himself and not shoot guys in the head for a while.

In that vein, if I want to do a kill everything run -- and want to do it with a friend (before I kill him/her too) -- which companion(s) would be a good fit? I know Boone is all buddy-buddy with the NCR, so he's out. Do any of them have karma checks?

Haven't met her yet. Maybe I have and just didnt realize. Like I said, I'm about 40 hours in. Where is she?
Cassie is
at the Mojave Outpost in the southwest corner of the map.
Veronica is
at the 188 Trade Post south of New Vegas.
Raul is
held captive at Black Mountain by BF Tabitha :lol
Lily is
at Mount Charleston on the northwest side of the map.

Fallout 3 seemed a lot easier to pickpocket in, at least to me.

The foot of the bed thing is interesting. Maybe thats why I was having problems. :lol

Is there an easy way to find one of my lost companions?

One minute Boone is with me, I fast travel, go about my way, get into a firefight, keep traveling, turn around and he's gone. Since he's always running behind me I have no idea where I lost him. I didn't tell him to wait anywhere and he didn't die.

Hours have passed. I've waited. I've slept for 24 hours. I went to recruit Cassie and she said something like "two's company, three's a crowd..."

Shitballs.

I lost Veronica, then I went to Blackrock Mountain and then it said she returned to the outpost :D. But I have no idea where Boone is since I want to pick him up again.

If you're on a console, you're probably screwed. I lost Veronica in Vault 11, I just went back last night and searching the place from top to button and there was no sign of her. I really wish Obsidian would patch whatever the problem is, I'm sure they could launch a patch that resets your living companions or some shit.

Like I said, try fast traveling to Blackrock Mountain. Fixed my issue :) ( which is the same as yours ).

"I don't think Homies Over Hoes is a sentiment that A Pimp Named Slickback can cosign, Riley. I mean don't get me wrong. A Pimp Named Slickback would put a lot of things over a ho. Money over a ho? Always. Brand new gators over a ho? Absolutely. A turkey sandwich with just tomato? Guaranteed. But homies? Oh no. A Pimp Named Slickback don't do shit for the homies. Let me reiterate. Don't do shit for the homies. Unless the homie wanna walk that stroll and get that money, a homie ain't gettin' a goddamn thing. And the same goes for brothers, peeps, dudes, fellas, dunnies, comrades, whatever the fuck niggas is callin' each other nowadays. Sound like some gay shit to me."

I have come to the conclusion that the Sneak skill is mostly useless. Holdout weapons can do any casino-exclusive quests just fine, and as there are no real stealth attacks, it's not helpful in straight up combat situations either.

Resetting my character and not going to bother to tab it.

It doesn't need to be very high, but with sneak kills, you're going to get a critical hit. Sneak kills are definitely the most powerful. My sneak was around the 60 or so mark, but it came in handy since I was using a sniper rifle for most of the game.

Is there a consensus on the
archimedes weapon
?
Is it worth pissing off the NCR to get it? Can you regain their favor through questions?

Not sure if that needs to be spoilered, but I'm playing it safe.

I got it and I didn't piss the NCR off at all. You can always regain favor through quests -- the NCR assassins give you 3 days to get your favor back up before they start attacking you.

It kind of sucks anyway.
Takes a long time to charge, and always blows up my companions

I'm trying to like this Obsidian, I really am. I even changed my mind about selling it to give it one more playthrough first. But 45 minutes into the new playthrough and it's already frozen. Eh... I guess the "Obsidoes what Bethesdon't" in the title isn't referring to quality control. Hurry up with that next console patch.

help!

ED-E got lost or something so I go back to
Primm/Nash Residence
to find him, and he's going BERSERK! totally unloading on them and then he turns on me. I can't even talk to him because he's hostile. PC version BTW.

is there anything I can do or is ED-E lost to me forever? :(

This guy has been following me and shooting at me for about 20 minutes. I cannot shoot him. It's awesome...

What platform? I'm 39 hours into my playthrough and I only had problems before the patch. No freezes yet or anything really. Installed to the HDD ofcourse.

I'm on 360.

PS3. It froze something like 15 times during my first ~50 hour playthrough. The second one isn't getting off to a great start. I actually didn't even get my copy until after the first patch had been released, I don't even want to imagine what it would have been like without it.

Bethesda has released some of the buggiest unfinished games in the history of the medium, many of which were before it was easy to go online and get patches.
