First room you'll likely come across is in Novac. You can pay for it or do enough there to be given it.

No, in fact the NCR later asks you to do what you did as part of one of their quests. But you won't be able to do
Veronica's
companion quest (I Could Make You Care).

Well that's shitty. Guess if I bother with a second playthrough I'll save that for later.

I guess I should have just killed everyone, waited for the NCR to prompt me to do what I did then do it? :lol

I was in the RP mood and was pissed off, so I just did what I would have done in that situation.

If you got the Wild Wasteland perk

Grab the Alien Blaster, that fucker is crazy powerfull, i had 20 points in Energy weapons and got the achievement only using that gun and the ammo that comes with it

When is that god damned patch coming out for the PC version? Since the last patch made the game unplayable for me (fps is now sub-20 all the time from 40-60 before patch) I've been waiting patiently but it's never coming out :(

My Boone died and his death was so good I let him stay that way.

He and I were in Vault 3, clearing out the Fiends. We opened a door and there was a leader-type named Motor Killer or something like that. Boone charged Motor, rifle blazing. Motor went at Boone, chainsaw buzzing. They collided like matter and anti-matter! Then they both exploded into bloody pieces at the exact same time! It was a Bloody Mess-type situation: a double decapitation with some limb loss on the side.

I said "WOW" but no sound came out. It was like I suddenly witness some shocking, unexpected porn or snuff. I just walked out of that room while shaking my head. I need to get another mule - I mean companion - go collect all the gear he was lugging.

I wonder how Arcade Gannon will fare against the Super Mutants? :lol

Jeez they are really dragging this out, in the last hour the game has crashed on me 5 times, can't be doing my ps3 any good at all...

Edit: 2 minutes after posting this I discover hidden valley... straight kick out of the game to the xmb, least I dont have to get up and restart my PS3 I suppose.

So... PS3 Gaf... is this game worth getting as a Christmas present at this point? Reading all of the people having crashing problems (not only here, the Amazon user reviews are full of stories) scares me. I really wanted to play another Fallout as I missed 3 (but loved 1 & 2).

So... worth it? Or keep it off the list and wait until later to get it?

Some confusion on this.
There's not much to do, per se, for this quest. Different words will trigger recordings stored on ED-E. After 2 or 3 you will be contacted by both the BoS and the FotA. You can then bring ED-E to either one and they will give him different upgrades, returning him after a couple of days. The recording are spaced, so once you hear one you will have to wait 8 or 9 (I forget exactly) in-game days to trigger the next one. This may be what's messing you up.

Not to knock on wood or anything too early, but I'm 9 hours in on the 360 version and have only had two bugs, both of which were temp glitches. I also have Luck at 8.

I love New Vegas but I think you'd be better off with Fallout 3 GOTY first. You should be able to get it cheap and it's pretty stable. That way, by the time you get through F3, New Vegas should be far cheaper and pretty well patched.

Oh, for what it's worth, I've only had the ps3 version of NV crash about 3 times in 30 odd hours.

Unless they patch it between now and the 25th I seriously couldn't recommend getting this as a christmas present for someone, the crashing is mind boggling sometimes (some days I get nearly 20 crashes in a 4 hour session, the next day I won't get a single one, its very random)

Grrr...I hate Games for Windows. I thought PC gaming was all about the options. So what's up with disabling all controllers except a 360 controller, and disabling my mouse if I use that?

I want to use the controller and mouse aim. Is there an easy way to enable that? Of course, joy2key, but I'd like analog movement.

I'm only 20 hours in but not a single crash so far.

There's one quest I can't complete because of a bug but that's not bothering me too much. The game is amazing.

Well to be honest your pretty limited with partners,
one slot is for a humanoid companion like boone or veronica, the other slot can only be ede- or Rex the robot so not many combos available. Boone is definetly the most powerful partner in most cases and I like Rex as he actually does damage.

I had it crashing on me all the time. But as soon as I shut all the music off, it stopped. But even with all that, the game is still worth getting if you are a racing fan.

After you pass a certain point in the main quest line, you will get a base of operations. Once you have that, you can send any companions who aren't traveling with you back to the base. So you don't really need to "get rid" of anyone, at least not permanently.

As for which ones are the best, that depends on your playstyle, and how it meshes with each companion's stats, companion perk, and AI. For me,
Rex
was really annoying because I was playing as a sniper and his high perception and aggressiveness would constantly have him running ahead of me and aggro'ing enemies.

holy shit, I wish I knew about the jury rigging perk sooner. repair anti material rifle with practically anything. armor too, basically keep all my shit at 100% at no cost

50 hours in and I just started doing quests in the strip.

This game is everything I wanted Fallout 3 to be and Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games ever.

I enjoyed Mysterious Stranger in FO3, but I use VATS so much less in NV due to iron sights that it seemed like a waste of a perk this time around.

yeah i use it less too but i thought hey couldn't hurt..

IT DOES HURT. the whole fucking game gets stuck in VATS as everybody hacks away at you until you're dead.

Also, on Hard setting, the game is really hard. :lol Maybe it's because I'm not even level seven, but I die a lot.

Edit: To say the game has swallowed me up is not true enough. I've even taken to picking up lottery tickets and dropping them on slain

ugh I'd wish they'd raise the level cap. I'm 28 or 29 and once I hit 30 I'm going to lose a lot of motivation to do all the sidequests.


also, I gave veronica brotherhood power armor and a super sledge but the sledge disappeared and now she's back to using her power fist, the fuck :[

I think the first DLC is supposed to raise it to 35.

Did you by chance enter Gomorrah before noticing the weapon disappeared from her inventory? That happened to me, but I lost my fucking Pushy. :mad: Haven't played the game since I lost that weapon.

The ending is much much better this time. The way it's presented at least.

The highlight of the game for me was
seeing Mr.House
. So awesome :D

scenery wise, Fallout 3 is better.. but overall New Vegas is the better game imo.

edit:

An Arrested Development reference :D.. An NPC named Little Buster with a Cram opener as a hand. :lol

Yup, that's exactly what's happening, plus it also stops me being able to pull up the Pip-Boy and activate V.A.T.S. It was pissing me off so much in the end that it was ruining my enjoyment of the game, so I stopped playing the night I posted about the problem. Hopefully they'll release a patch that'll fix it.

Thanks for the tip about pulling the trigger once. If there's no new patch by the time I've finished GTA 4, I'll be using that when I complete NV!
