PS3 update is supposedly live in NA as of now. Anyone confirm?

Edit - It also looks like they may have had to move the PC update to next week.

Do you have a link to the changelist? I'm keen to get my hands on the patch.

Has anybody else encountered a glitch on the 360 where certain guns (usually rifles it seems, the Cowboy Repeater in particular) cause you to lose button function after shooting them?

Happens quite often to me, I can't shoot, reload or pull up my Pip Boy for several seconds after firing my Cowboy Repeater (and some other guns) sometimes.

No changelist yet since only the PS3 version is live (which doesn't show one) and nobody's around at Bethesda to post it on the forums.

The bug you're talking about is known, the patch should fix it, unless like the last PC patch they try to fix it and just break it some more.

I'm trying very hard to understand why a PC patch would come out *after* a certification-delayed console patch.

It's a pretty good question, and the only thing I can guess is that they didn't actually send it out when they claimed to have, probably due to finding a showstopper towards the end of testing.

After the GFWL disaster with Fallout 3, I was hopeful that the Steamworks integration in Vegas would lead to lots of smaller bugfixes rather than the verrrrrrry delayed and infrequent patches from 3. You know, the same patches that almost always coincided with paid DLC.

Do I sound cynical?

Well... at least this time it won't coincide with DLC! :lol

It's not? I thought the 360 DLC was about to launch.

On the 21st... it was more of a joke that the DLC is exclusive.

Edit - Someone confirmed basic EC having -2 DT, so I guess that's the real deal.

Just going to start listing confirmed stuff since a changelog is yet to appear:

- Companions now fast travel to the appropriate location when dismissed by the player
- Companions are now marked as indicators on the Pip-Boy map
- Veronica now correctly levels up similar to other companions
- EC/ECP/MC ammo (standard) now has -2 DT
- EC/ECP/MC ammo (over charge) now has -5 DT
- EC/ECP/MC ammo (max charge) now has -10 DT
- Multiplas Rifle now consumes 3 units of ammo per shot (previously 6)
- Plasma Defender now consumes 2 units of ammo per shot (previously 3)
- All reputation safehouses have been updated with additional supplies (armor, weapons, ammunition, skill magazines)
- All-Purpose Science Suit (13 DT, 2 WG, +5 Science) can now be found in the Followers' Safehouse (previously cut content from Fallout 3)
- NCR Ranger Combat Armor can now be found in the NCR Safehouse
- HELIOS One infinite experience exploit has been fixed

Could someone explain exactly how DPS works? It wasn't in F3 and if you're not using an automatic gun how does it work?

It's basically what it says. The amount of damage per second. Your SMG might not deliver nearly as much damage in a single shot as your shotgun, but it shoots faster so you might end up doing more damage with it per clip. It's just a way to factor in the shooting speed of the weapon with the damage to HP per shot since both are an important part of the final result: how much damage you do.

I miss this game. :(

Probably a silly question but the changes for the patch will move over for existing chars so you don't need to start over again right?

Yeah, the patch changes should apply to your current save games as well.

Wallach, is that a complete changelog? I really hope they fix the first-person gun holding animation glitch (where rifles go wonky when you hold them)

Quick question: I've been finding
abandoned shacks and houses around the waste
such as
Field's Shack
and others. The items are up for grabs, as in no karma being wasted taking them and recovering there. Are these.... semi-permanent? Can I leave anything in the lockers and whatnot? Would make it a lot easier for some traveling between the south and north.

Does the patch fix the Helios One gun freezing every time you try to fire it? One of the things I was most excited for when I made an EW character and I can't even test it out. Sucks too since I got it really early on and definitely had some spots that I woulda loved to have it, and now I'm a walking god and don't need it. Ah well.

Awesome :)

I assume these are just a few of the fixes, but good stuff. I hope it addresses some other stuff. I know Boone's gun skill will be brought back down but he's no wandering aimlessly without his hunting rifle and is using melee based weapons for me. I hope they have a fix for that too.

How do I get a key to the Follower's safehouse? I've done pretty much every quest for them.

You can get into McCarran from outside the walls of New Vegas on the south side.

I wonder if it fixes
that vault where attacking the turrets causes you to fail a bunch of House quests.

Is this an actual glitch and not a quest objective? I got the failure notice and didn't know it was a glitch, but i reloaded a save and didn't bother doing the end of that sequence.

From what I've been told the turrets are incorrectly aligned with House, so attacking them makes him hostile to you.

You enter the Camp from the Mojave Wasteland. You can literally walk from Goodsprings to McCarran in the first 10 minutes of the game. New Vegas has nothing to do with it

thanks man. i was on the verge of wasting my favor with the king, but i'll save it and make the trek.

Speaking of the King, are any of his favors useful at all? Money is obvious, joining the Kings apparently lets you get a haircut... is that it?

Just hit 70 hours, still sooooo much to see and do.

IIRC... I made a mistake of picking one of his favours (money), but if you withhold from asking for a favour and
you're siding with the NCR. I think you can ask him, as a favour later on to stop his feud with NCR in one of the later quests.

So many hours and I think I'll be calling it a wrap soon. Just need the banned from all casino's trophy but I suck at blackjack:(

This is my runner up GOTY... Heavy Rain being number 1.

Overall I liked the environments of FO3 a lot more but I'm loving not having to go back into any fucking sewers.

Started it earlier at 6, played for 5 hours straight :lol . Digging this alot (love love love FO3).

I'm still in Primm, about to head south to get the pardon for that new sheriff.

Holy shit, melee and unarmed are powerful in this game. When I
faced off against Lanius
during my first playthrough at level 26, it took me an ungodly amount of bullets (since I'd run out of microfusion cells by then) to take him down. That was on Normal difficulty, I think. I turned on Hardcore for my melee/unarmed character, and he took
Lanius
down on level 19 with two hits from a Ballstic Fist.

Also,
because I was wearing a Legion outfit (my Stealth armor had gone bust by the time I reached the Legate's camp), Lanius' minions didn't even attack me. They just stood there, waiting for me to knock their heads off.
You know what's the best against
Lanius
? 100 speech.

I swear the vast majority of the quests in NV can be finished or strongly influenced by speech checks.

No joke. I haven't encountered a check above 50 yet, and every single extra part I've had to scrounge after and do is because my silent gunslinger type is.... silent. :lol Missed out on a lot of optionals as well. Already looking forward to a second playthrough. :lol

Can you get a sniper early on in the game ? I'm itching to start a new character with a sniper build.

Has anyone tried brahmin tipping?

What's that :lol

edit: I just googled it :lol I've done it a few times without actually realizing it's an easter egg :D

damn, that seems like a pretty comprehensive patch. i have held off playing the PS3 version, but i guess now it's the time to get into it finally.

i'm not going to say "well done" to Obsidian just yet, but if i can get through the game without serious issues or too many crashes, then i'll be greatful for their post-release effort.

You can, go into the First Recon (iirc) tent in Camp McCarran and there is one on top of a bunk that you can take without any karma loss.

I was doing fine in the beginning but now I'm level 7 and it takes several shots to kill things. Am I missing something? I mean did all the quests that came up. I'm at the
Rocket Factory and its hard to kill the nightkins.

The Nightkins in there were a bitch for me low level too. I resorted to explosives, which is a bit tricky itself in those corridors.

Okay so I just completed this quest with Cass and then took a peek at the "endings" that are connected to it at the Wiki (does the ending show the futures of various characters or something?). Need comments on what I did, what you did, etc.

Once we figured out the Crimson-Van Graff plot I wanted to resolve shit peacefully, but once I walked into Silver Rush (for the first time ever) and talked to one of the bodyguards, everyone went hostile. After a fairly epic gunfight Cass and I wiped the place out at which point she changed her mind and wanted to roll into Crimson Caravan old style.

I was still against it. I didn't care about slaughtering the Van Graffs (don't care about energy weapons either), but I had quests in-progress with Crimson Caravan head Alice McLafferty and preferred to stay on the goodside of everyone over there. Problem is, my lockpick skill was nowhere near high enough to get the evidence out of the safes, even with magazines.

The option I chose was to chill out in McLafferty's office with a Stealthboy and slip some C4 in her pocket (after completing her line of quests of course). She's dead, but everyone else at Crimson acts as if things are still in normal operation, no hostility or infamy. Cass left with her "vengeful" resolution.

Any ripple effects I need to know about for my actions? What did you do?

Oh hot damn. The Ratslayer's been doing wonders for me but I'll try that. I still haven't been able to mod any guns yet though. I heard you could mod a silencer onto a sniper rifle for instance. Where do you find parts?
