Famitsu Sales: week 8, 2024 (Feb 19 - Feb 25)

[Weekly sales of software and hardware] “Mario vs. Donkey Kong” has achieved V2! Switch “Crayon Shin-chan” and “Game Center CX” are also ranked, while “Splatoon 3” returns to the top 10 [2/19 -2/25]

Sales ranking announced by Famitsu. This time we bring you a summary of estimated weekly game software and hardware sales from February 19th to February 25th, 2024.

Mario vs Donkey Kong sold 27,113 copies and took the top spot for two weeks in a row. This title is a remake of the puzzle action game released for the Game Boy Advance in 2004 and new elements such as a new world and cooperative play have been added. The total number of units sold is 89,043 and we can expect continued sales in the future.

Next in 2nd and 3rd place were Crayon Shin-chan Shiro of Charcoal Town which will be appearing for the first time and Game Center CX Arino's Challenge 1+2 REPLAY.

The former is an adventure game based on the manga/anime Crayon Shin-chan . The is latter a remastered version of the Nintendo DS software based on the game variety show Game Center CX and both got off to a good start.

Among these, I would like to pay attention to Splatoon 3 which ranks 10th place. Thanks in part to the distribution of paid additional content "Side Order" on February 22, 2024, it returned to the top 10 from outside the range.

On the hardware side, the Switch family sold 50,886 units, the PlayStation 5 family sold 33,504 units, the Xbox Series family sold 3,113 units, and the PlayStation 4 family sold 362 units.
Switch got leeeeeeegs. How many times have people rejoiced PS5 pulled ahead proclaiming it's the new norm only for it to go back on top for the next months/year? I hope Nintendo has some unannounced heavy hitters to take advantage of this crazy install base even if hw inevitably slows down.

The primary goal is to sell software after all, if by some impossible miracle a system has somehow sold to ALL the gamers on year 1 or 2 rather than 7 that wouldn't suddenly mean they need to put out a new platform right away instead of sell games to all those people excited to have this system...

Curious where Rebirth will land when we get famitsu's sales data for current week.

250k first week sales should be more than achievable I think.

It should be at least 300,000 in my mind. Shouldn't be too different from FFXVI
