Are you interested in football? (Football, not handeggball).

If so, not only do we have a thread dedicated to the beautiful game within the Communities forum, but we also have started a GAF Fantasy Football league (Premier League based).

I've created this thread in off-topic purely to make people aware that if they wish to participate, then please come over to the GAF Football Community and join the discussion there.

The details of the GAF Fantasy Football league are below:

GAF Fantasy Premier League

Download the Official Premier League app from whichever app store you use (Android/iPhone). You can also use - Fantasy.premierleague.com

Create a team and choose your players.

For a bit of added spice & competition, the legend that is clarky clarky is going to award a digital sports game of choice to the person with the highest weekly score at the end of the season up to the value of £60.

No problem.

If we can get at least 20 players then we'll have a propper league.

Only have a few days left as well.

I might ask my son to join the league as well if that's cool?
More the merrier mate. I don't set the rules but for the prize it'll have to be a GAF member, might get messy to track if theres a few non-members are in the league. Then again If its just the boy then it'll be fine. Get him in and we'll see where we are at come kick off Friday?

We'll just exclude him from the prize 😉
He doesn't need to know.

When you think back, we had a Euro 2024 thread created and a CWC thread created, many of the posters in those threads (including those who created the threads) never ventured over to the football community (for whatever reason). So I do think we have the numbers, they just don't seem to want to join in outside of their own created threads.

But one person who has been in the football community but missed from being tagged above is near near so I'm giving them a tag here. :messenger_sunglasses:

Also, no issues with your son joining in IDKFA IDKFA the more the merrier.

The Mrs wants to play. That ok with everyone? Expect a team full of city players that wont start.

Excluding her from the prize as she gets enough out of me.

Yeah thats ok with me. I hear Grealish and Savinho are good choices if she wants some Spurs Everton City players. 👀

I've never done Fantasy League for anything, ever. How does it work?

You create a team & choose 15 players. Each player has a value determined by the game. You have £100m in the bank to spend. So once your players are chosen, you select the 11 you wish to field, these are the ones who will score points during the "Gameweek" if any don't play, your subs will be automatically brought in (in the order you have them listed).

Each player will score points depending on their position. For example.

Sesko will get points if he scores or assists as he is an attacker.
Van Dijk will get more points if he scores or assists as he's a defender, however he'll also get points for his team keeping a clean sheet.
Goalkeepers get points in the same way as a defender, but also get points for the amount of saves they make.

It's all based on the real life outcomes of the games played that week in the Premier League.

There's more to it, such as you can select a captain and they get double the points, red cards & own goals will lose you points.

The aim of the game is to score as many points as possible... goals, assists & clean sheets.

It's fun, it's free, it's competitive & will no doubt bring a lot of discussion & jokes. It's also very easy to play once you get started, the hardest part is deciding who to buy, who to field and when to transfer players during the season.

Learn as you go.

Just get a team in and we will answer any questions you have. First season is always a learning curve then youll be hooked for ten minutes every week during the season.

I know Windle Poons Windle Poons had issues with the platform but there's definitely more than GAF footy fans out there.

Two days until the season starts, you can sign up after then but you'd obviously lose the points from any weeks you weren't involved in.

Final call for the free GAF Fantasy Football league.

The Premier League starts tomorrow so any signups after will of course lose the chance to earn points from those missed weeks. You can still join in at any time though if you wish.
