Chinese - The great ones being Legend of the Condor Heroes and Return of the Condor Heroes but a more recent one that stuck to my mind is Thunder Cops with Eric Wan.

Japanese - GTO, king of cheese

Korean - The Sandglass, when a show uses modern history as the backdrop to it's story (from the Kwangju massacre to the Samchong camps) and has great character drama on top, it's beyond incredible.

A group finished subbing the first season of Gokusen.

It's about a grand daughter of a local ex-Yakuza boss, who wants to follow in the footsteps of her deceased parents and become a teacher. Ended up teaching a class full of delinquents. Sounds corny, but it is pretty funny. A lot like GTO.
