Favorite DS game so far?

I only have a few games for it, but i'd have to say my favorite is the one I just picked up.

Metroid Pinball. Yes. Pinball. Metroid style.

It only has 6 tables in all, but the pinball action is so spot-on, and tables are so alive with Metroid action, that the replay value is actually very high. Even without Samus rolling around, the game would be pretty solid. You'd think the inch of space between the screens would screw you over in timing, but it's pretty seamless how it drops to the bottom. Your eye doesn't miss a thing.

The objective is to collect artifacts, and you get them by completing goals, like destroying a swarm of bugs before they overwhelm Samus, killing space pirates, metroids, and other things with your pinball skills, and defeating pinball versions of the MP1 bosses, like Thanatos. As you collect them, you move on to different boards, completing each tables objectives, and so on until you get them all, or die (and you can die outside of dropping in the dead zone at the bottom of the table).

Of course, I wish there more tables, but that's more of a 'the game is awesome, I need more!' kind of thing, then a flaw. It's really the perfect portable experience. Playing mission mode once may take 15-20 minutes, if you can keep the ball alive long enough.

Animal Crossing because I've played it every day since launch. No game can do that. And this is the right answer. It isn't a matter of opinion.

Though Phoenix Wright, Trauma Center, Mario Kart, & Castlevania DoS all deserve a mention as well. Kirby & Advance Wars aren't far behind either.

Mario Kart DS followed by Advance Wars DS.

I might check out Metroid Prime Pinball, but now I'm thinking I'll just wait for Resident Evil or Metroid Prime Hunters.

They should do a "Nintendo Pinball" game with boards based on various different Nintendo franchises ... that would be awesome.

i thought it was mario kart for a while, but my girlfriend and i have been playing animal crossing every day since we got it on launch. sure, it's only about a half hour a day, but the only other game i've done that with in the past 3 years is WoW.

My fav is usually my newest too. But I have to many new ones to pin it down to one right now. I'd say:
the one I like to play the most at the moment is Phoenix wright
The one I'll put the most hours into is Animal crossing
The one that will get played long after the rest of my current library is shelved Metroid Pinball
My favoprite Multiplayer, obviously Mariokart

Well, the newest being the favorite isn't always the case for me. Example: Super Mario 64 DS... Brand new, and I hated it after a few hours.

:(

Just wasn't playable to the point that it made me want to go through the game again, even if it is with Yoshi. I could try, but without the spot on controls, just not worth my time. And I seriously loved Mario 64 too.

Anyway, rant over :P.

Ya, well SM64 may be an exception, but it was also my first game. I think its pretty precise with the thumb control but its a pain to hold and play comfortably like that.

Anyways, Does Ouendan have english subtitles option? Thanks, I think I might have to pick it up from Ebay if thats a yay.

The Terrible Three...

Kirby:CC for being an amazing and completly original game giving me an experience that I will never forget.

Castlevania:DoS for being the best Castlevania game next to SoN. So beautiful and giving me Julius mode to play after...amazing

Mario Kart DS for being amazingly fun single player, giving me WFC online, and being fun single player making it the best Mario Kart ever and one of the best DS titles.

No chumps either - Animal Crossing, Advance Wars DS, Meteos, Metroid Prime Pinball, Nintendogs, Sonic Rush, Warioware Touched.

P.S. I have yet to play the giant overseas called Ouendan. If anyone has a copy willing to trade or sell let me know. I would love to help out a fellow GAF member and playing this game as well.

1) Kirby: Canvas Curse, for being the best platformer since Yoshi's Island.

2) Animal Crossing for being the most addicting game (yes, game!) ever.

3) Mario Kart for being the best in the series yet with the best multiplayer the series has seen yet.

4) Sonic Rush for being the best Sonic game since Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Someone answer this. Is it import friendly?

Daigasso! Band-Bros. (incl. Request Selection)

WTF happened to this game coming to the US? It had a title and everything. :\

a) Mario Kart: awesomeness in a cartridge. Nailed alot of hours into this one already. Great stuff... course design is some of the best yet in MK.

b) Ouendan: I have 'S' rankings in literally all difficulties. This title rocks.

c) Phoenix Wright: Every case I finished, it was the best one yet. I adored case 5, even if it was super long. The court scenes just rule all.

d) Meteos: the last puzzle game I played before Meteos was Tetris. I thought I'd hate it, but seeing as how I nailed 30 hours in a 3 day span is craziness.

Thanks. Hmm, I think I need to get Sonic rush and ML2 first tho. :)
You could probably skip Partners in Time, unless you are fanatical about the Mario RPGs. The dialogue is nowhere as witty as previous games and battles are about twice as long as they should be.

My favorite is still Kirby. I just love that game so much, one of the most original titles to come out for the DS.

As far as multiplayer I still put Meteos as my favorite. Blowing planets up has never been this much fun....errr...wait...has it? :D

I still haven't picked up phoenix Wright, or Metroid pinball, or quedan for that matter. Damn the DS library. It hurts my pockets... :(

Cant decide between mario kart and advance wars cause they are so different.

Want to give a nod to THPS as well, just cause a third party put such effort into the DS and it plays so well.

I'm strangely skeptical of all the Phoenix wright love, but curious enough to order it today, it's on the way. A question about that, if I start playing it, can my girlfriend start up another profile? I hate it when games don't do that, because she will never play one if I'm halfway through it or whatever.

Really, don't listen to this insane human being. The dialogue is still great (though maybe not as good as the last one), and the gameplay is still fucking fantastic. Must own game.

:( Rreally? I seen a screen shot that had aliens telling the mario bros that they were gonna "roxor them while they ROFL" I thought that looked pretty witty. I need a good RPG, oh FF3 where are you?...
I do have $50 in my Paypal, and I like the music games..... Im so indecisive...

YAY! :D

Any chance of Ouendan coming oversee? I'm thinking of importing but would gladly wait for the US release. Same could be said for Band Bros, wasn't it suposed to come out here tough?

Band of brothers is coming here as "jam with the band" and will likely contain new/different music. I'll wait for that one.

Probably not. It bombed in Japan. (~50k sold) And licensing issues would probably make it difficult for the songs to make it intact overseas.

Castlevania

There are many DS games I'd like to buy, can't afford to though :(

You say there are 6 tables in Metroid Prime Pinball? I've never seen a screenshot of a table other than the two you posted... Anyone have some?

Phoenix Wright has a character like that, too... :P Awesome game, with lots of great characters. I thought the canned animations got to be a bit much, but their sheer expressiveness makes up for it. I actually only have Phoenix Wright and Metroid Prime Pinball at this point, but they're both among the best games I've played in years. I'm so well off with the DS that I'm actually thinking of getting something like Dragon Booster or Lunar just to remind me of how fucking awesome Phoenix Wright is. :D

Worst in the series by far. Not as funny after a few hours and the worst, most boring boss battles easily.

Don't hold your breath. It was a launch game in Japan, but there's been NO news on a US version since they gave it a name--over a year ago. Everything else that launched with the DS in Japan has long since arrived here. Nintendo's official response if you ask about it is simply "no US release date has been announced". It's not been shown at any western trade shows, including E3 last year (we asked for it, they were clueless).

I think they've quietly canned it.

It was shown at the Games Convention last year.
