What are your favourite four player minigames that don't require split screen?

Mr Driller: Drill Land. Battle mode.
Hunting the coin in 2 vs 2 mode is the most fun thing ever.

Monkey Ball: Monkey Fight (or Monkey Fight 2!)
Simple, violent fun.

Death-tank!!
The only reason to own Duke Nukem on Sega Saturn.

What are your favourites? Remember - non-split-screen!

(These aren't mini. They're the whole game.)

It's always been Warlords.

Chu Chu Rocket is good, but difficult to get new users into.

I remember pushy penguins! That was awesome.

How does warlords work? What platform is it on?
Are you little tanks in the corners?

It was an arcade game, with an Atari 2600 port. It was a sort of 4-player Breakout/Arkanoid, where, using the paddle controller, you defend your own castle while trying to take out the others.

GOOD TIMES.

Warlords looks awesome! Annoying that it hasn't been included in any of the million 'arcade classics' packs. (apart from the recent DS one, seemingly).

Atari Anthology on Xbox has the arcade version of Warloards. I think it has the 2600 one as well but it really is nothing in comparison. I love the snake minigame on timesplitters 2, it's probably my favorite thing about the game.

It was actually included in the "Atari Anthology" compilation for ps2. And yeah, it's a great game!

As for 4-player non-split party games, probably my all-time favorite is the Japan/Euro-only Poy Poy 2. You guys should feel very lucky that it was released in your regions! It's one of the few games from the psx era that I still regularly play when my friends are in town, along with other timeless party classics like Devil Dice (Bombastic works too) and Micro Machines V3. Treasure's Rakugaki Showtime tried really hard to copy Poy Poy (so did games like Powerstone and Kung Fu Chaos, sorta), but couldn't pull it off at all despite its awesome visual style.

Anything good on the Xbox in this regard?

If you happen to have a modded Xbox, the homebrewn "Super Mario War" is amazingly hilarious and fun for 4 players, despite being extremely buggy.

Thanks, I'll look into that.

The "hopping around trying to collect turnips and get to the end without falling into the water" PDA minigame in Alien Hominid. Pure 100% awesomefun.

Four Swords Adventures (all of its modes may qualify, but Tingle's game room hosts one or two specific ones that I'm thinking of).

Super Monkey Ball - Monkey Fight

Wario Ware Inc: Mega Party Games - Jump Forever... also that jumping on each other to get to the money thing is awesome.

In the ball rolling Mario Party game - does the platform tilt depending upon the placement of the balls?

Indeed. Hell, the entire Turtle Stacking game kindd of counts. I love Jump Forever when it's just constant A button and that's it...and the money one is great. I had some of my second cousins over playing it (Ages 7-13) and they were loving it.

Unless you happen to like the best home console version of Duke Nukem. Which I quite did.

Any screens of Likitung Sushi and Kings of the Beach?

I wasn't really thinking of counting music games in this, as they're kinda 'split screen' most of the time anyway, and not really the sort of gameplay I was looking for. DK in 4 player is amazing though, especially with DK3 (JPN) as they've introduced more depth to 4 player.

Are there any four player puzzle games that take place on the same 'board' as such, other than Chu Chu Rocket?

I have also had a LOT of fun with;

Mario Tennis - N64,

Metatron - Freeware PC lightcycle game, search "Metatron Lightcycle". Gets a bit cramped around the keyboard but makes up for it.

7 Player Death tanks all the way. I would play that for hours if I could.
We had a 250 round session once, it lasted about 6 hours.

Aurura - thanks. That looks awesome.

Bumper Balls > all

Agreed, and it can only be topped by the Shy Guy Flag game.

How I miss my Mario Party stigmata (from spending a summer trying to beat each others times in the Mecha-Shy-Guy mini game. It got so bad, we ended up having to use things like BMX gloves to stop us wearing a hole through the palm of our hands)

Good call.

One reason why Warlords is such a great multiplayer game (even today) is because it's so easy to understand that just about anyone can pick up the controller and have a good time. The controls are simple, consisting of just a rotating knob and one button. It only takes a few seconds to figure out how the game is played, and most players can pick up some basic strategies within a few minutes of play. It's a legendary party classic!

The Ninja Turtle arcade games.
Also, Fuzion Frenzy was crap except for the single minigame that came as a demo with Halo.
