I'm just going to assume this is because of artist licencing etc. but it's really aggravating to realize you can't buy music you REALLY want because it's not available in your country. Anybody who is a band head (as in instrumental concert band/wind ensemble like Gustav Holst, Frank Ticheli) know it's damn hard to find quality recordings of classic band literature digitally. Large parts of the medium has been recorded physically and it is damn near impossible to find several significant pieces of music when that music is stuck on a CD that has been long forgotten by publishers. Then you end of playing the hide and seek game of finding that specific piece or CD.

This CD in particular: https://itunes.apple.com/no/album/legend-guest-conductor-series/id492510515 is not available for purchase in US. Spent 10 minutes trying to find this exact product page until I realize it was on a iTunes store from a different country. Admittingly I should have locked at the price and it would have been a dead give away but clicking view on iTunes doesn't even tell you it's not available, it just opens up a blank page with no explanation.

Region locking never bothered me for games but it absolutely frustrates me for music. Guess my only option is to buy a $20 USED Cd from Japan and hope that the CD is actually in good condition.

Yeah, if you do want to buy songs from another region in iTunes, you'd have to create a second account, for that region. In particular, if you want to create a Japanese iTunes account, you'll most likely have to purchase a Japanese iTunes gift card (there are sites that sell them) because your non-Japanese credit card will probably be rejected. It's a real pain.

Absolutely ridiculous that you have to go through that much steps just to order from a foreign DIGITAL store.

Just create an account in that region and get a prepaid-card from there, problem solved. It's not more region locked than for example PSN.

It's a bummer but it's much worse when the publisher completely removes the release digitally worldwide... for a digital only release... and there are absolutely no results online for any copy, legal or otherwise.

Happened earlier in the year for a release from a major publisher. Couldn't believe it.

This is one reason why CD releases are still important.
