I desperately want video functionality. I've never gotten a portable MP3 player, but the ability to whack to the pr0n on my computer on a portable device will definately win me over. I'm intending to get a second generation Nano if it doesn't have it.

1GB Memory stick = no go.

A PSP + 80GB internal HDD = God-like. But also extremely expensive, too expensive for me.

yea but unless the Ipod goes through a MAJOR design overhaul watching porn on the PSP will still look 100X better then it would on a Ipod screen. And man Ipod are already so damn expensive if the new version does have video playback I bet the prices are going to be through the roof. I've always been a support of Archos and their Multimedia players some are outragously priced but are basically 20-40-80GB PDA's with Camera/ Multimedia capability it seems worth it.

Well I wouldn't rule out a big change in form-factor, the Nano shows Apple seem to be want to go for broke this xmas in generating as much buzz and sales as possible to increase the leverage they have over the record industry before the contracts are renewed.

With the new drives they could shrink the 40GB one a bit, but not enough to cause the Nano-style effect, so video playback or wi-fi are the only things I can think of that they can add to hype up a 5th Gen. iPod.

Personally I'd kill for a wi-fi iPod which works with Airport Express.

From macrumours forums, the bloke was right about the Nano apparently:

The screen is nice, but I wouldn't be surprised if the new iPod screen would have a nice quality screen too, maybe not as good though, but good enough. The fact that you need a memory stick with a PSP really kills it as a video player. It's just not capable. 1GB is shit.

Anyways. Does anyone know a good portable media player besides the ones by Archos and Creative? Gmini 400 seems to be the best one out there. I hope the iPod Video (if there is an iPod Video) blows everything out of the water. I want to be able to masturbate at pr0n. Damnit. Is it too much to ask?

Iriver PMP, Iriver H series are also good, but I still think Archos is the best, been using them for years and own like 6 of their MP3 players. Sony also has some sort of PMP which looks like the RCA Lyra (Lyra is COMPLETE AND UTTER CRAP! I USED TO WORK FOR THOMSON ELECTRONICS AND SOO MANY FAULTY UNITS)

Keyser Soze: what exactly is dying? the hdd? battery? would you be intrested in selling it? I'd love to own a first gen. I recently bought a 15GB 3G which is my favorite.
