I'm having problems with java and the new firefox..specifically dealing with yahoo games.

I have java runtime and have java and java script enabled in firefox. The problem is that when I enter yahoo games the browser basically hangs and cpu usage gets really really high. I tested the java applet at java.co and it seems to be working, but not in yahoo.

any solutions?

Did you upgrade Firefox from a previous version? If so, did you follow the recommended procedure of installing Firefox into a fresh directory?

Java IS quirky within Firefox, so you might also try uninstalling Java and reinstalling it within Firefox. I hear that the most reliable method is to save the .xpi file to your local drive and using the File -> Open menu option within Firefox to open it.

Good luck...

First point again: Did you upgrade Firefox from a previous version? If so, did you follow the recommended procedure of installing Firefox into a fresh directory? (They say this on the website, and they aren't kidding...)

There IS an option to control middle-clicking. Type about:config in the URL bar and check to be sure that browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick is set to true. If not, that's your culprit.

Last thing to check -- if you had Tabbrowser Extensions installed for an earlier version of Firefox, that could be screwing up the works now as well. Best to do a fresh install of Firefox each time...

I still can't find a goddamned spellchecker for the new version of Firefox. I had it running fine with the last version.....

Yeah, I had problems with that Yahoo page as well, still do AFAIK, not been back since. If it is firefox's install procedure, that kind of sucks. The install procedure for new versions is a huge pain in the arse - I uninstalled my version of 0.8 before putting 0.9 on and only half of my stuff went across OK - bookmarks but not search engines or extensions. Hope this doesn't happen past 1.0
