Well, thats what my friend says anyway, saying it's "slower than internet explorer." He's reknown for his thick headedness, but it's strong in this case.

We're can i tell him to go so he can get a million cases of spyware with IE and his computer will blow up as a result? That'll learn him.

Just go to his computer while he isn't looking, install Firefox, and then change all IE links to redirect to Firefox instead. If he's that stupid, he'll never know the difference.

I was converted a couple of days ago, Firefox is much much better than Explorer and I find firefox to be faster than explorer so go figure

Add an IE theme so it looks like IE. ;)

its not like firefox is perfection in a browser.

I no longer use IE (Avant), but I still always liked IE more than firefox for speed and compatibility issues. And given only the two as options, I'd use IE.

Firefox is great except for one thing; saving images. At least, saving images in a directory that already has thousands of files.

It takes me less time to copy an image address, paste it into IE, load it and save it there, than it does for me to simply save the file through Firefox. The whole Downloads subwindow is a wonderful idea when you're getting big files and archives, but for every individual item saved through Firefox, it's a gigantic and lumbering pain in the ass. Seriously, though, I do not need a little pop-up window to consume more memory just to tell me that the file has finished saving every single time.

New Firefox will be the best when somebody updates "adblock" for this version. "Remove it permanently" is the closest thing and it sucks ass. Old Firefox w/ adblock>New Firefox. Although StumbleUpon is a great extension.....

Firefox is ok. Opera is the best.
:lol I'm trying to browse their site and it's taking forever. You'd think if they advertised that they were the fastest browser, they'd atleast have a fast website...

Indeed Firefox is the devil!

Try looking into the extensions Download Sort and Download Statusbar---they make image downloading a complete breeze, as I can open up a few dozen in tabs and then just alternate ctrl-s/ctrl-f4 to save them all to a directory of my choice (with optional "date" and "original URL" fields). There are also other extensions to "save all tabs", which simplify it even further, but they tend to be bloated.

If you don't want to bother with extensions, there's similar functionality for -only- selecting a single directory built right in, by going to Tools->Options->Downloads->Save All Files to This Folder.

Firefox routinely slows down my system, and when one window crashes, every instance of Firefox shuts down. I also noticed that when you view an image in FF, and then want to save it, it doesn't get it from cache, and instead it downloads it again. That means that if I open some pics, and an hour later want to save them, but the links are down, I won't be able to eventhough the pics are right there in my browser windows.

Try this to make Firefox go faster. I did it and the thing has been going much faster ever since. It only works on broadband users though.

http://forevergeek.com/open_source/make_firefox_faster.php

"Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up: 1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!"

I thought this happened with IE, too...

Use Print Screen if this happens. It's annoying but at least you'll still have the pictures.

i've never understood this firefox thing...ive used it on my desktop and my laptop, and both times my bookmarks have been completely erased for no reason.

It does if you open a new window by clicking on a link, but if you open a new instance of IE by clicking on the IE icon (in your start menu or on the desktop, etc.), it doesn't.

Speaking of using print screen, I tried to do that to capture a shot from a video I was watching in MP, but instead of a still from the video, I get a blank screen inside the MP window, while the rest of the screen shows up fine.

Don't webmasters hate that shit? Especially forums....

You gotta turn the hardware support to 0 % percent under the options for the video to show up in the print screen.
