Firefox vs Chrome on a low-end laptop

I have a Surface Laptop 1 with an i5 7200U and 4gb of RAM. Coming from my main laptop with an i5 8565U and 16gb of RAM, I notice it is a bit slower but the biggest difference is the hitching/pausing when trying to start new applications. It also cannot handle multiple tabs as well.

I have always used Firefox and never could get used to Chrome but in my situation what would be the better browser?

I have a laptop with the same cpu but with 8gb of ram and a NVMe SSD. I've found Chrome runs much better on mine than Firefox.

Chrome is bit faster on weaker hardware, but that is soon negated by the lack of ad-blockers.
Firefox + U-block Origin has the most performance gain, from what I've tried. Ad banners take so much power for essentially nothing.
