First Killzone PSP info!

It's called Killzone: Liberation

Not a FPS, but an action game with the same viewpoint as Metal Gear Solid/

Thanks to Wax Free Vanilla for the info

Details in OPM UK

PSP is really starting to kick ass:

Syphon Filter Dark Mirror
Brand New Splinter Cell
New MGS
Killzone Liberation

:D

How will this work better than an fps?

You still need 1 stick to move and 1 stick to control where you are looking.

Not if the developers make a smart camera. Plus they could set it up where you hold down L shoulder button and then move the stick to move the camera.

I want to see pics.

PSP FTW In 2006. :D

Is the new MGS a proper MGS title? Or more MGA-like shit? That might get me to keep the PSPaperweight. Otherwise I'm selling this crap.

Well to be honest, any FPS could work on the PSP. All it takes is smart design much like many N64 FPS's.

Single analogue FPS's play like dogshit now, they were ok back in the N64 days but not anymore. Its one of the reasons I didn't like Metroid Prime, dual analogue or bust.

According to Kojima's blog its a proper MGS game, no cards.

Ok, so the shooter genre is well covered along with racing.

Now time for platformers, RPG's (Please, please, please), action, and adventure games. I would kill to be playing DQVIII during lunch.

What was the OPM feature about?

Does it contain screens?

They have screens in the magazine. I haven't seen them though, but I did ask the guy who revealed that snippet of info in the first post to send them to me if possible.

What, it's supposed to be a *real* MGS game now? I thought Kojima himself said a regular MGS wouldn't work on PSP?!
And what about that MGS comic (?!) for PSP...I remember seeing a thread about that some time ago...where people got excited thinking it was a new MGS game for PSP, but it turned out to be some kind of comic? Or am I mistaken?

Metal Gear Solid (PSP):
http://psp.ign.com/objects/783/783630.html
http://www.gamespot.com/psp/adventure/metalgearsolidpsp/news.html?sid=6141644&q=Metal Gear Solid PSP

Its not Metal Gear Acid 1-2, or the new Metal Gear-BD Interactive Comic.
Its an original/traditional MGS, with a PSP Twist.

Play Socom FTB (PSP), and then tell us your opinion.

If it's like MGS game or a RE4, it should play fine with one analog stick. You simply stop and shoot, that's about it, and not a problem on a handheld where that extra simplifying factor brings the certainty of precision that is handy when you're playing during a bumpy ride.

Even though I don't think that's what this game will be doing, face button to move, and analog to aim can for just fine. Personally, I hope this KZ will have controls just like MGS2/3 games, with same kind of camera view and all :P

Real MGS game, MGA2, MGS BD (digital comic or whatever it is) - they're all coming to PSP.

A little theory here that would explain the Killzone numerals.

Killzone 1 - PS2 - Helghast Invade,
we win a great victory by activating orbital defense system if I remember correctly.

Killzone '2'/Killzone: Liberation - We get the Helghast scum of the planet, the final battles.

Killzone '3' - PS3 - We invade planet Helghast. You can clearly see the Helghan HQ in the PS3 trailer(there was even artwork leaked with the same building where it clearly said Helghan HQ).

I may be wrong though and that Killzone: Liberation is prequel showing how the Helghans(before they became known as such) became exiles and started their epic exodus.

Some more info:

- Feature is a 4 page spread
- 11 screenshots
- You play as Jan Templar on a mission to resue hostages from behind enemy lines.
- There is an increased enphasis on stealth; more need to use the environment around you.
- The Helghast come in a variety of guises, more so than last time.
- New weapons, a crossbow being one of them.

That sounds great. So Crossbow will be present in PS3 version aswell then I guess. Can't wait to mess around with it.

Are these all kinda in the same genre then with killzone going 3rd person?

Yeah - personally I'd rather have Killzone as a FPS on the PSP, but this is a refreshing change, and obviously not a port. Medal of Honour PSP is coming, so (fingers crossed), it's all good.

This thread is useless without "stealth informations" about where the scans can be located :)

why does everyone get so excited over Killzone? The only version of that game that was ever playable was HORRIBLE.

No it wasn't. It was mediocre. But the art direction and atmosphere was very good.

Well, that's a matter of opinion, me and my friends LOVE Killzone. So... :p

How well did Killzone sell does anybody know?

It's closening in on 1.5mill I guess.
It came past 500k in oct/nov in the US last year and at the same time it was well over 500k in Europe. And these numbers don't take into account the Greatest hit release aswell as the japanese release.

well, neat i guess. I hope they find a way to keep a solid framerate... and loading was already annoying in Killzone PS2, so I hope it's not catastrophic in the PSP game.

Ay. Glad to see they aren't simply porting over Killzone or anything (or the engine for that matter, which would probably cause my PSP to spontaneously combust). I think Guerrilla has immense talent, and I really hope they can fulfill it. Sony ownership should help, but it's hard not to be cautious.

At the very least I'm sure it'll be decently enjoyable.

According to Ferret on the official board, on January 26th they're going to be releasing stuff about Killzone. I'm guessing its for this game since he posted it in the PSP KZ thread that its about it though.
