So I guess EA decided to release this on current gen? Last I heard it was pushed to 360/PS3.

Either way, SSx3 rawked me. New snowboard title get!

Game Informer said PS2, PSP, XBox, NDS and GC. They didn't mention anything about next gen consoles

I think the SSX series should now shift over to the next-gen consoles also.

But then, thats how I feel with just about everything. ;)

GS: Is the game only for this generation of consoles, or will it appear on next-gen consoles?

SA: The game will only be available on the current generation of consoles.

Some of it sounds awesome, like the full streaming system and the adoption of a "trick stick", but "let's make you a rock star!" mindset leaves me a little cautious in that regard. It all depends on the direction they take that in - will it be more like Amped or THUG?

Either way, very exciting, very promising.

The SSX series is the only thing I've enjoyed from EA in years. This looks good already, IMO. Hopefully it will be as good as SSX3

Was online mode for SSX3 even used? I heard it always hardly had people playing it.

I can confirm this. I bought the PS2 version for 2 reason, 1) the controls are better on the DS2, 2) online mode. Only one of these aspects delievered :(

I played online for a few days and never touched it again. SSX Tricky is the best SSX IMO, so I just sold off SSX3. Dunno about SSX4, I like the series and all but if it's more like 3 then fuck it. I play for the showoff mode, and the shoff stuff in SSX3 was fucking garbage. If they hamstring that mode for 4 I will be extremely pissed.

It's a shame there's no Amped 3 to challenge this. (at least for graphics)

I've always liked the Amped series more than SSX. Amped has a higher learning curve, but once you "get" it, you'll never touch SSX again.

SKIS!? TARNISHED

Sorry but while I'm a huge ass fan of the series, I've been waiting for a die hard skiing game too and this way, I get both. I mean we've gotten such notables as Jonny Mosley Mad Trix from 3DO, and Alpine Racer 3 (JPN PS2 Only). Bleh.

The last good skiing was on the Commodore 64. Go Winter Games! I almost wept the first time I found out about this. If EA can pull off some sweet freestyle skiing, and make it just as fun as the snowboards, it could be really cool.

SA: The game will be available on the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube. Unfortunately, we cannot talk about any unique content at this time

Mario is snowboarding?

And EABig needs to worry less about making this game playing dolls on the snow and bring back the old level design. SSX3's courses were a big letdown after Tricky's great courses. Especially the trick courses, which were dumbed down into a few big jumps at times or extended halfpipes. What made SSX great was doing insane tricks on a regular course and getting nice run going, planning out your line and grinding off of telephone poles.

And SSX is not the only game in snowboarding. Keep that dumbass sports sim mentality away from other types of sports games.

is this more ssx tricky or more ssx3? loved tricky, hated 3.

and is there any way to tell if this was ported from 360 to ps2/xbox? i know there was speculation that EA may have switched their lead platform to 360 and this supposedly a 360 launch game.

It's good to know I'm not alone on this matter. They need to being back full course showoff mode.

Haha, I agree. It's weird, I think SSX 3 is "better" than Tricky, but I still prefer Tricky. Also, Tricky's music/soundtrack > SSX 3.

I agree with this. I'd much rather play Tricky, even though SSX3 is more feature rich....

I certainly don't want to play this crappy Ski game where I will probably have to play ski courses to unlock stuff on the snowboarding side... :-|

Except, of course, when you want to play a good game. :p

The trailer just sold me; this game is beautiful in motion. First ever multi-system preorder, at least when we get SKUs for it.

SWEET :D I've just gone back to playing SSX3, trying to get all golds and complete the game 100% with my character.

The skiing from the trailer IMO looks way less fun than snowboarding. It seemed slower, and the tricks performed really sucked (but maybe there's better ones in game).

SSX3 was awesome and the one snowboarding game i really got into. I really dont like the idea of burnout style boosting in this.

I guess you missed the burnout style boosting on every SSX game?

I'm not such a big fan of SSX 3 as other people around here, but I really like the style that they use for this one. Plus create a character was something the series really needed. Skiing looks nice in motion but it doesn't feel right, it's a snowboardgame for fucks sake.
Along these lines, we have partnered with real-world companies to bring some of the coolest new equipment and clothing, for both skiing and boarding, into the game.
Me like.
