First teaser for Maul: Shadow Lord

So will this be one of those shows focusing on a villain where:
- We learn they aren't actually that bad and are mostly misunderstood.
- They take a beloved badass character and emasculate him by making him non threatening and lame.

The self insertion of the female fantasy of tuning a bad boy good?

and when she does that she looses interest because he's no longer a bad boy.

Jonah Hill Ok GIF

No doubt thats what they are gonna do (though maybe more of a "you are the daughter I never had" route.

Which is fine for a dramatic character arc, but for DARTH MAUL? I can see Vader finally caving but damn if all it takes to swing Sith Lords back to the light side is a little TLC and a hug.....come on, really?

It looks good and on point. Looking forward to this.

The animation and style is fantastic looking. And of course everyone's favourite Birdman inquisitor and that poor guy from Ahsoka. Sam does an amazing Maul voice.

Wow, this may be the best looking animated show I've ever seen. That animation is phenomenal

When it comes to Star Wars this year, I haven't been this excited when it came to the animated stuff before Disney bought the IP. I'm very happy with the way this show looks and I hope this turns out great

Between the smart idea of "retcon"ing his TPM death, and his effective use in TCW, I think Maul has blossomed into one of the best characters in Star Wars. He just perseveres. He never quits. He always rises up. It's a drive you can't help but respect. I love the premise of this series and I'm excited to see his clashes with the empire.

So I watched the first ep. Fairly solid police/crime drama. The CG is pretty good, they have really evolved in detail and less of that "wooden puppet" look it once had. But the animation is pretty stiff and hasn't kept up in parts. Pretty gritty, lots of death, so it's more along the lines of Bad Batch than Rebels in tone, if not even more mature.

I really like the colors, tones, atmosphere. I would be willing to give this a chance but I long ago dumped D+

Loved this creeping hands from the darkness

Sam Witwer is so good as Maul, I've always admired his passion for the franchise. Nice to see the positive reception so far!

Seems like this and Andor have been the only Star Wars related content worth watching this last decade... which is crazy.

How he wasn't a mainstay throughout the PT I'll never understand.

The coolest villain since Vader, gets about 5 minutes of screen time, and Lucas just tosses his ass down a hole.

I swear to God, the stupidity of this franchise is fucking incomprehensible.
Boba fett also

I just finished watching it, it's a great show. Straight to the point, its DARK, definitely not kiddy stuff, even though the art style and they made Maul way more badass than in the movie. I never watched Clone Wars mainly because of the chibi animation so I cant compare Maul's story but here its really good.

Maul always felt like a character with a ton of wasted potential ever since The Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. If this show finally gives him more screen time and some proper character development, that's honestly something a lot of fans have been waiting for.

He wants revenge on Palpatine for ruining his life and dropping him for other prospects.
I feel like it is hard to really show with very much because their ultimate goal is kinda nebulous. Is it a perfect dictatorship where everyone knows their place and role, kind of a lawful evil situation? Or is it just chaotic evil, barely a step above anarchy? We see that the Jedi can lead to stagnation, corruption, and decay at a macro level, so who is to say that the Sith wouldn't be a better alternative? I feel like the entire anti-Sith movement is based purely on Palpatines personal grievances and xenophobic views, but he doesn't necessarily represent all Sith, there are good people on both sides :p
