EW YORK (AP) — Rapper Flo Rida has pulled out of his guest appearance at the "Miss USA" pageant later this month and Macy's has dumped Donald Trump, part of the continued fallout over the GOP hopeful's remarks about Mexican immigrants during his presidential campaign announcement.
A representative of the platinum-selling rapper confirmed that Flo Rida won't be performing at the July 12 pageant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The pageant lost both its co-hosts Tuesday, with "Dancing with the Stars" Cheryl Burke and MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts bowing out.

Earlier Wednesday, Macy's became the latest company to end its relationship with Trump. Companies have been cutting ties with Trump left and right after his presidential campaign kickoff speech last week in which he declared that some Mexican immigrants bring drugs and crime to the U.S. and are rapists.

This is hilarious, but I do wonder why they are suddenly all doing this now and not long ago. This isn't even close to the first time Trump has said horrible/disrespectful things in the media.

Some? He said that practically all of them are, and that maybe some are ok.

If he said some are criminals, it would be factually correct but sentimentally misleading. He probably would've been forgiven by the media. That's not what he said though. I hope Miss Universe gets cancelled, or they Donald Sterling him out of being able to receive any revenue from it.
 
I'd love it if Donald Trump was the catalyst that caused an overall sensitization to racism and bigotry among the middle of America, in turn causing the complete irrelevance of the republicans.

Pretty much like every major controversy, they want to be part of the conversation early or when it's 'hot'. Give it another month and those who didn't leave Trump's side won't care.
 
People keep saying that this attention he is getting is gonna pay off from him in some way, but I just dont see it. The current Miss universe is from my city, im gonna ask some friends in common if she has considered giving up the crown.

Well, Macy's just released a collection with singer Thalia.

They don't want to alienate a growing customer base (Latinos).

He wants that still powerful demographic of anti-Obama, anti-Immigrant voters. Another issue is, he singled out Mexicans as opposed to Hispanics. There is no real solidarity between Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Mexicans yet.

I don't get his end game though. He doesn't have enough Republic support for the nomination, sure as shit doesn't have enough democratic or independent support. And he's losing retailers and networks left and right for his products. What does he want? To be a fox news only correspondent or something?

He specifically said "It’s coming from more than Mexico. It’s coming from all over South and Latin America, and it’s coming probably — probably — from the Middle East. But we don’t know."

He has certainly done a lot to unite us with his racist ass, a Colombian singer cancelled a Miss Universe performance and pretty much everyone south of the border knows him as "the racist candidate", he has become the poster child of every anti-inmigrant sentiment expressed by USA, you guys might laugh at him as one of the 16 twats, but to us he is a hurtful reality that is actually getting some traction in the polls.

He wont be president ever, but the idea he got this far says a lot about the current climate.

The race hasn't started. He hasn't gotten "far." A series of clowns were ahead early in the 2012 republican primary, only to fade away before the voting actually began. Trump is getting the attention he craves, but once things become serious he'll implode. I doubt he'll last past the first four contests (Iowa, NH, SC, Nevada).

Again I already know that, but we also have clickbait here, the usual person 's first contact with this guy is gonna be in the capacity as a true candidate for the most powerful job in the world, a job that has been filled in the past with people that have hurt the region. I know he is not gonna make it, but seeing that dolt on CNN and Fox News for us is an endorsement from certain parts of the people, I get its for the ratings, but its still an endorsement.
 
I'm surprised that the fallout is just now happening. When I heard what he said, I wanted to throw up. He is just racist scum.

My country's biggest TV station anounced we wont be participating on Miss Universe, same reasons.

If he wasn't running for president, maybe the backlash wouldn't be as hard.

But we are in a climate where saying nonsense like that is less and less part of the status quo.

And sure, he did specify Mexicans, but not all of the people leaving the Miss USA competition are Mexican or Mexican-American. There is /some/ Latino solidarity happening here.

I think it's because every comment he's making is getting much more coverage than before. Before it was just a crazy old white guy making comments, now that he's in the spotlight...it's going to get hot under there.

i really am shocked at how much backlash he's gotten. lots of people in the media got away with saying some pretty nasty things about mexicans in the past so i was expecting nothing to come of his.
