Now that it's pretty much official, as we're just awaiting the recount and months of courtroom turmoil, we need to focus on a plan for the future. Civil war is imminent and as citizens of this new world order, we need to worry about more than just the future of our country, but the future of professional sports as well.
Once the North secedes and creates a serviceable country name (I'm leaning towards the REAL United States of America), I vote that we put aside our petty differences with the South (considering we have decimated their population through famine and deadly warfare by now) and let the divisions of the respective leagues represent the two separate nations.
NFL: AFC = SOUTH, NFC = NORTH
MLB: AL = NORTH, NL = SOUTH
NBA: EASTERN = NORTH, WESTERN = SOUTH
We would then have real world championships as two world countries would be in competition with each other. Of course, we'd have to realign all the divisions to keep teams in different countries separate.
