This game is going to be soo hard to pull off on the psp, the disk will be spinning non-stop. battery life am cry.

has this been an issue for any titles yet?

This makes no sense at all. A game like this is perfect for Nintendo DS. And if you think PSP will won anything on the uk because of this game please share what you are smoking... :D

Do you really want it to be a half-assed version on the DS?

Why would it have to be half assed on the DS?

I dont know but i am sure some one will find a reason on here.

BTW, this could be technicly classed as "old" as i posted the to PR's togeahter a few mins before you :)

YES!!!! We all now that you need a mega power console to a game that look like this:

he's right though. To sell a game in the UK all you have to do is put "football" in the title and the devs who made the game will get shitloads. half of my friends own a PS2 just because of LMA manager, PES and Fifa.

Well, to be fair, screen resolution really is a big deal when dealing with text and simple images.

uh ok... :lol

link please.

link for what? it's a text game... it could be done on the DS just fine!!! It just isn't coming out for whatever business reason...saying that the res would be a problem is really reaching levels of sad as far as trolling in concerned...

Dark...I like you... why you have to go there also... Has this been a problem for any games on the DS or GBA??? Backgrounds can be made to help the text... it wouldn't be a thang.. and we all know it...

You could play the game on both handhelds, but it would look much more blurry on the DS and it would be much harder to read.

It's more like memory is a concern. The engine is based on vast amounts of data being stored and processed so I would think that would be a major problem for DS. Screen resolution is simple enough to work through and the touch screen would be a major benefit for this type of game.

You would be scrolling for DAYS. You think that's sad? I agree.

It could work just fine with a lower resolution, but I'm spoiled. My personal laptop uses a glossy 17" 1680x1050 wide LCD while all of the laptops we buy and use at work use a dull 15" 1024x768 screen. The increased pixel size and dull appearance of the screen really makes for a poor experience. I love high-resolutions and small font sizes.

The PSP screen is very high-res for its size and stomps those 1024x768 screens into the ground in terms of actual appearance.

I really couldn't care less about FM06, but I'm sure there are others out there who can't stand using low-res LCDs. The GBA and DS screens are pretty ugly looking to me. Totally functional, but ugly.

I'm not suggesting that FM on DS would be a bad idea, though, so much as I am finding virtue in a higher quality screen.

I dont think us brits care much about resolution as much as you do dark. Everyone prefers a higher resolution, especially with a game like FM, but having an FM on a handheld is a luxury in itself. Even though I didnt need any more convincing that PSP is the ultimate conole, this just further seals it.

Actually, Football Manager is very complex and lots of processing power and memory is needed for it. Even the PSP is way underpowered to run the latest Football Manager game with decent load times, so it will have to be a simplified port.

For the Nintendo DS they would have to sacrifice a lot more even and the low resolution doesn't help either.

Another big reason for not developing for Nintendo DS is that save-games in Football Manager can become pretty big, sometimes way over 100 MB. Sure a simplified version would need less saving space, but it would still not fit on a Nintendo DS cartridge's save memory I think.

Sega are still trying to kill Nintendo? :lol

No, it's just the same Sega that's been making those "awesome" management decisions on where to place titles for the last few years.

Well, if Sega makes FM for DS, complete with 'touch your hottie female secretary' function, then it would be an instant game-over for PSP in UK, and Japan. ;)

Have you guys seen the movie on the sigames site? (Follow the link at the top) :lol

This doesnt make me want a PSP though, they will have to cut plenty to make it run at a handheld friendly level (you thought you'd seen load times before, wait till your playing 12 leagues)...the new stuff in the PC version sounds cool though.

I'm glad someone else who has played this game put all of you 'this should be on DS' retards in your place. SI put a version of Championship Manager on Xbox with one playable league at a time (PC supports up to 12 or more and requires ridiculous amounts of RAM). You think a badly underpowered handheld with a small storage medium could even run this? Stick to your virtual pets.

:lol Some people just want a reason to bitch, particularly when Sega is involved. The funny thing is if a DS version was made, the same people arguing for it probably wouldn't buy it anyway.

Really... when you're dealing with spreadsheets, higher resolutions do help...

that said, this 'game' would've been ideal on a PDA or some such.

Then when you actually play the game you'll realised how wrong you were. Have you ever actually played this game before? Its a wonderful game but its very fiddly even when using a mouse! Your always moving from one button to another, one menu to another, closing one window and opening/closing 5 more within the space of 20 seconds in the hunt for that new striker to save your tea, :) Can you imagine what that's going to be like with PSP's control system? The only handheld worth trying to get this game on is DS, because if they can actually get it working, even a more simple version, it will actually be a fun game.

Actually, Football Manager is very complex and lots of processing power and memory is needed for it. Even the PSP is way underpowered to run the latest Football Manager game with decent load times, so it will have to be a simplified port.

Yeah if you play it with 12 leagues running with more running in the background and a large database its very intensive. But go with a minimum database and one league with no or few background changes and do some optimising/simplifying and it could be possible to fit it on a DS. At least it would still be a good game on the DS, even if its very basic, due to the perfect control system. But to be honest its not really a good idea for either handheld IMO.

Another big reason for not developing for Nintendo DS is that save-games in Football Manager can become pretty big, sometimes way over 100 MB. Sure a simplified version would need less saving space, but it would still not fit on a Nintendo DS cartridge's save memory I think

Things like this really can't be compared from PC to console/handheld though. Most PC games have saves in the 30-50MB range while their console counterparts are not even 1MB in size.

BTW anyone who thinks that a drastically watered down port of Football Manager is going to make PSP sales sky rocket in the UK is mistaken. Firstly Football Manager is still fighting to gain the recognition it deserves (it doesn't have the name championship manager anymore). Secondly its userbase is PC gamers, people who love all the stats and like controlling the game with a mouse in front of their PC. None of these people are going to want to play a extremely frustrating, simplified version of the game, wether its on PSP or DS, its not a handheld system seller.

Carlisle are losing.
Looks like it's pretty accurate then! :(

Non League support makes parts of me twitch and become harder :)

As does the thought of the real "championship manager" on PSP
Yummy.

PSP - the machine that keeps giving. As soon as we have UMD pron, MAME, SNES, GBA, Megadrive, etc... i dunno, i might go off like a spunky firework...
