Fortnite is back on the App Store in the US

Big Tim Sweeney is gonna change the industry by being a litigious bitch. Imagine how much it cost them being off the app store for this long.

So, are the MTX now much cheaper as we don't pay the Apple Tax anymore?

Edit: replying to myself
Anime legends : 22.99 on epic game store without Apple Tax
22.99 on Apple Store with Apple Tax.

I think if you choose their payment processor for V-Bucks, they are giving you 10% back in V-Bucks to use across the Epic ecosystem. So they are giving you savings, but locking you into their walled garden.

Tsk, tsk Tim Epic

Apple knew a new fine was coming if they don't allow it lol.

"We asked that Epic Sweden resubmit the app update without including the US storefront of the App Store so as not to impact Fortnite in other geographies," Apple spokesperson Olivia Dalton tells The Verge. "We did not take any action to remove the live version of Fortnite from alternative distribution marketplaces."

Or, the app was resubmitted correctly this time?

Edit: Seems like it was just other shite, just resubmitted.
It will eventually be cheaper for Epic to make a console than to lose 30% of their revenue on PS and Xbox.
Too much risk. 70% is better than 0%.

I am so down for this, my son just started playing a few weeks ago. We have been playing split screen on ps5 pro. Now he can play on his iPad and we can play while he is at his mom's house. Finally something other than Roblox.

Already got 2 battle royals on iPad Pro, 200k more xp and I can get Darth Jar Jar.

Fortnite's already a platform with a massive user base and users will spend more money on a device where Fortnite is literally the only thing you can do.
If they can hold onto those users long enough for HW prices to drop it will be easy for them to move users onto cheap Fortnite devices.

Offset the cost of the console to users by giving users free in-game currency that costs them nothing.
Fortnite box/dongle/phone costs $200 but you get $200 back in in-game currency.
Initially they could even give users back the 30% that's not being taken by MS/Sony/etc. via in-game currency at a 30% discount (until the user base hits a certain size).
When the user base gets where they want it - they just pull the plug on every console/phone/etc. port all at once, forcing everyone onto their devices and ending the 30% discount.

So consumers either pay the apple tax or the Epic tax?

You're deluded if you think Epic will give you discounts. Money money money. They'll charge you the same.

I agree that they'll charge the same in the end.
Initially they could move users to their platform faster with some kind of incentive.
The incentive could just as easily be exclusive content, 'early access' or any number of gimmicks.
