I was thinking of a overlay transparency as another option, but I'm not sure it would "work" at all.

As for the sheets, that's fine. I know from personal experience how annoying it is to get awkward stuff into the small frame and make it look good.

I can only get face shots since the proportions + GAF size limit don't make it look that good when going for a full body shot.

I just have a quick question as far as removing backgrounds and stuff goes. What's the most efficient way to go about doing it? When I use the background eraser in photoshop, I generally get the same results as if I used the magic wand. Are there specific settings I should be using or is there another method altogether?

I normally make the selection I want to keep (or select the background and do an inverse) and use the "Refine Edge" button at the top to make adjustments and then mask it. I think I got advice from this thread to apply a feathering value between 0.0 and 0.5 to smooth out the edges a bit.
