Anyone able to get rid of the insert coin from this and get it into an avatar with a black border?

I appreciate this, though even if I didn't use it, it actually inspired me to re-install photoshop and try to duplicate your work. End result changed however and I'm happy with my customized avatar.
Edit: Should mention I never was able to duplicate that paint smear effect on the edges, what tool did you use (did you use photoshop)?

It's a bit more obvious at full resolution. I duped the layer, erased the bg on the top layer, halved the opacity on the back layer, then used a textured brush (chalk) to erase the edges.
Can someone make me a transparent avatar from this image? The image is huge, so I'm just dropping the link instead.

Any way I can get the background of this made transparent, please? Or something. It looks transparent already when I post it, but when I try to make it my avatar image it still has a white background.

Images greater than 100w or 120h get resized, which converts them to JPG, so the transparency gets lost. It makes no sense because mobile GAF has no problem resizing avatars and keeping the transparency. Anyway, saved you a step:

Hey all, I tried to make a new avatar of a drawing someone drew me, but... I couldn't get it all the way done. I got all the way to saving the darn thing and make sure the background is transparent, but I couldn't get the file to save as a PNG with a transparent background. I have this TIFF file that's transparent, but GAG doesn't take gifs.
So, if someone could convert this into a PNG or JPEG, I'd really appreciate it. http://imgur.com/PPowuVV
