Tonight we have....

The Simpsons (season finale):

28vtzdx.jpg

All About Lisa

Lisa outshines Krusty as his new assistant and steals the spotlight from him, earning her own TV show. Meanwhile, Homer and Bart spend some quality time together with their new coin collecting hobby.
This doesn't sound very promising AT ALL, especially for a finale.

King Of The Hill (season finale):

Life: A Loser's Manual

Luanne’s father, Hoyt, returns to Arlen after being incarcerated for years.

I still need to start watching this. Maybe over the summer.

American Dad (season finale):

Spring Break-Up

Unappreciated by Stan, Francine visits her parents over spring break. Yet the family is unaware of Roger's own plans to become the 'King of Spring Break,' as he invites college coeds to come party at their revamped home. While Steve tries to lose his virginity to the luscious Carmen Selectra, Stan's tastes lead him to Jessica, his new Spring Break buddy. Stan must now decide whether the booze cruise with Jessica is better than married life.
Sounds hilarious. Can't wait.

I'm confused. I thought Luanne's mother was the violent one, and her dad was a really sheepish type of guy. I didn't even realize he was in prison. I thought her mom got put away from stabbing him with a fork, and was later released. Didn't know he was in jail as well, I always just assumed he ran off.

Huh. Simpsons was actually pretty decently. I think that's the first time in a decade I've seen Homer outwit someone.

Yeah Simpsons was great... it's been great all season.

I dunno if AD can top last week's ep but I'm looking forward to it

simpsons are definatley getting better, i loved the bart/homer subplot.

I just saw that Simpsons. Just awful. I think the Manatees are on the Simpsons writing staff now, but instead of random references, they have old episodes.

Radioactive Man.
Bart Gets Famous.
Krusty Gets Kancelled.

All About Lisa.

Fuck, I was enjoying checking these threads and finding out that the new Simpsons was at least decent.

I know FG is a rerun but I love these 2 eps... the upcoming Lois vs. Stewie fight scene is just epic :lol

Still infinitely better than what Family Guy has become.

FG is just as funny as it's always been. It's not declined

False.

The show peaked at season 3 and then just plummeted afterwards. Only Blue Harvest and a few others since the show came back are any good.

Give it a rest.. I'm tired of hearing this same elitist BS in every FG thread. It's the same exact show.

edit, and I've actually watched Seasons 3, 4, and 5 in the past two months or so and it's all the same shit. No drop in quality at all.

It's not elitist bs. The show just isn't good anymore. The characters have become caricatures of themselves and the cutaway gags are too frequent and just not funny.

I agree. The best parts are still the long, two-minute stretched out jokes and those are still as good as they've ever been. The Godfather discussion was as funny as any other bit in the show's history.

From your first post you can really tell that you gave it a chance. I love Krusty centered episodes. KotH was a sentimental focused ep so there wasn't enough gags for me.

I watched it. What more chance was I supposed to give it?

I tend to think the US Office is a pretty failed, lame, and unfunny show, but I watch it and if it's funny, I laugh and admit it. I don't stifle laughter or make myself unappreciate that which is fundamentally good or funny.

Who exactly would ever do that?

There was one allllmost funny gag in there, about the riots because of an exposed ankle, but then of course Neu Homer had to ruin it with his "The one on the left is into it..." gag which was painfully unfunny, and right on its heels.

So please, don't think I didn't give that episode any and every chance to entertain me.

You don't like the Office...but you love Family Guy.

I wouldn't say I love it, but it does have funnier gags. You can't pull off a good Jake & The Fat Man gag on The Office.

It's just...you know...oranges and...unfunny oranges.

And if and when The Office is funny, like I said, I laugh. I mean, I still watch it. But you can't really compare the two. Totally different approaches to gags. The stuff I find funny on Family Guy would never work on The Office, for obvious reasons.

Though I'm not a fan of new Simpsons.. I've noticed that in every episode - even if it's not warranted whatsoever - Krusty must somehow get involved. He's either on the street making a passing joke, or at a place where the Simpsons visit.

What's up with that?

Also last weeks episode of "We have to kill off a character.. how about Homer's Mom? Brilliant!" was poor. Turned into a James Bond film in the second half, and not the funny Hank Scorpio way :(

Yes I read the first post but I don't care :P

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with that. Though I think the actual death scene was pretty well-done.

That episode was doing pretty well until the James Bond thing. Homer's "Mom?" before the commercial break was appropriate, and the line, "Mom, we didn't know each other very well. If we did, you wouldn't have asked me to climb anything" was good too. I think the episode should've focused on the five stages (even though that was done in season 2). Every time the new writers start to do something heartfelt, they have to pull away at the last second because they probably feel like they're getting too preachy or depressing. "Mother Simpson" should've been their blueprint. Too bad they didn't use it.

Is it really that big a deal? She's been in three episodes in nearly 20 years.

I don't know. Is it a big deal that any character is ever killed off on a TV show? You watch Lost. How would you feel if Penelope Widmore was killed off? She's only been in four episodes, ever.

"Homer's Mom" was one of the best Homer-centric episodes ever (and easily one of the top five endings in the show's storied history). The fact that they would kill her off is just, I don't know, distressing? Especially if was just a consequence of another too-long and unnecessary action sequence, the kind which seems to end ever four out of five episodes in recent years (see: Bart & Lisa Commandeer The RV).

Here's what happened:

Mona comes back after she "died" in a previous episode to lose the feds. She's now dedicated to spending time with Homer, but Homer's sick of Mona leaving and reappearing, and he no longer trusts her. She tries to make amends one night and tucks him in, but he's still upset at her. Later in the evening he can't sleep, and makes a card (that reads "I've been a real turkey") to give to her. He goes down to the living room where she's sitting in front of the fire. "Mom? Are you sleeping? With your eyes open?" Then he looks distressed. "Mom?" Shot of outside of the house. "Mom?"

Then we get to act two and it's after the funeral. Grandpa is depressed and the two hippies from D'ohin in the Wind are there. Homer watches Mona's video will and promises to fulfill her final wishes of scattering her ashes over Springfield because he feels guilty that she died thinking he didn't love her.

So up to now, it's going relatively smoothly. Homer dumps the ashes, but they go into a missile guidance system. The rest of the episode is Homer getting pissed at Mona for posthumously doing one more protest, but he fights off Burns's thugs in a James Bond parody and through this he understands why she did all the protests in the first place. At the very end of the episode, Homer has retrieved her ashes and lets them go one final time. They disperse into the sky and the episode ends with a montage of Mona.

But the James Bond thing was really, really bad.
