Fox is planning yet another 24 reboot, without CTU

This was fast

The swift demise of 24: Legacy is not something Walden or Madden seemed too cut up about. "We're really exploring what the future might be," said Walden, stressing that the 24 brand is fluid. "Perhaps it will live in a more anthological story franchise.

Fox has already discussed the next possible iteration with executive producers Howard Gordon and Brian Grazer, with Walden saying "they have a really exciting idea" "in the very early stages." Returning to the show's homeland security themes, however, is off the table for now. "The next version of 24 will not be CTU," said Madden, referring tot he show's fictional counter terrorism organization. "We want to take that same kind of ticking clock and apply it to something else."

That something else, Walden joked, was not going to be too much of a stretch, like science-fiction, but she copped afterwards to a small group that viewers were "sick" of seeing current events translated to drama.

Didn't like Legacy and the old series was very long in the tooth already. It's for the best.

24 - How do we make Homeland with a clock.

So they rebooted it once, removing one of the two things that actually made it 24. And now they're rebooting it again, and removing the other thing that made it 24?

I'm still waiting for them to add Designated Survivor to the 24 universe and have Jack secretly be the President.

I'm pretty sure the original idea behind 24 was that it would be about a different group of characters every season. So one season its a counter terrorist unit, the next season a hospital in a crisis, the next season ???

I always thought that was a really neat idea, and wouldn't mind them exploring some different concepts using the "real-time" format.

But all that changed once Jack Bauer asked for a hacksaw.

This is what they should've done the minute they couldn't continue with Jack Bauer, the realtime concept can be put on almost anything to spice it up.

Live Another Day: Cut down the episode count, killing the 24 hour gimmick
Legacy: No Jack Bauer
Threeboot: No CTU

Like, what do you have left of the series at that point?

Do a romcom: 24 hours focused on a couple's wedding. Family drama, bridal party drama, budding relationships, flashbacks (those are allowed in 24, right?), etc.

Y'know, kind of like the last season of HIMYM. That worked, right?

No CTU? Who is Jack fighting against if not a mole?

"Jack is back... and this time he's his own worst enemy... he's the mole now dog."

There's a show out there called The Wire that'll blow your mind.

I firmly believe that when Kiefer is done with Designated Survivor, Fox will throw money at him until he comes back home.

There was a time Jack Bauer was the most dangerous man on the planet.

Dude killed someone with a freaking flare gun on live television!!!

24: Futures
Do it like Quantum Break. Have old jack find grizzled jack to stop young jack. Palmer has to die in order to save the future.

24: Missions
Based on NASA's return to glory
