ESPN basketball analyst Chris Broussard is finalizing a deal to decamp for Fox Sports, according to Sporting News’s Mike McCarthy, where he is likely to pair with former NBAer Jim Jackson on FS1. McCarthy previously reported that Broussard’s ESPN contract was expiring in mid-September, and I have been told that he’s currently without an ESPN contract.

Here's a summary of all that "precious" ESPN talent they have gotten
Broussard will further help stock FS1's lineup with the most noxious of former ESPN employees, joining Skip Bayless, Colin Cowherd, and Jason Whitlock on Jamie Horowitz’s suicide squad.

And the consequences for ESPN
For ESPN, it’s another example of addition by subtraction, and while they don’t have the same role, its instructive that Broussard’s departure is reported the day after ESPN officially announced the re-signing of Zach Lowe, an actual NBA insider

I'm going to need multiple sources.

I can at least understand why they hired the other guys.

Anyone can do Broussard's job of making up info from sources and probably be more entertaining while doing so.

Hmm why is Disney letting all of their talking-heads go?
ESPN spent huge money on broadcast contracts which let them charge huge carriage fees which let them spend more money on talking heads which brought them bigger audiences to spend huge money on broadcast contracts which let them charge huge.... Wait. People are ditching cable?

ESPN can't afford to spend as much as they could before and they're headed by fairly humorless individuals that would do anything to keep sponsors and business partners happy.

FOX seems intent to spend its way into relevance. Good luck to them with that. Not sure how they intend to reach the dream premium carriage fee tier.

Fox Sports is actually getting me to watch ESPN more by hiring all of the guys who I couldn't stand on their network. Good job.

It's like WWF/WCW in the 90s all over again. Fox is getting anybody that was ever associated with ESPN. Chris Broussard is like Virgil.

Dumping Skip Bayless and replacing him with Max Kellerman was a massive upgrade.

Dumping Colin Cowherd was an upgrade by subtraction.

Maybe idk. Skip and Shannon sharpe are more interesting to me than first take now. Without Skip trying to one up stephen a every ep, the show is a lot better with Shannon

Undisputed and First Take in its current form are both better than First Take with SAS and Bayless was. Those two were just a bad combination. But I especially dislike Bayless.
