Does anyone have a list of free channels I can get in Canada? In BC that is. I can't seem to find one, well, not one which agrees with another anyway.

Please help out guys if you can. You might not realise it if you've lived here all your life, but it's so fucking hard to find out things online about this country. Driving me slightly insane.

If you don't have cable and have a TV with an antenna, switch your TV to antenna mode and start flipping channels.

Can't say which ones are free, as I'm in another province and get different channels than you do. But you should at least get the CBC.

Problem is my antenna is shit and I think I'm supposed to be getting more channels than this. But I don't want to go out and buy a better one unless I know it's going to be able to pick up more channels and if they're worth it anyway.

it really depends where in BC you are, if its vancouver or something then you likely have a CBC affiliate , a Global Affiliate and possibly even a chum based channel of some kind. That'll about cover it. 2-3 channels, 4 if you count the french CBC.

I'm on the complete opposite coast (Nova Scotia) and I get CBC and CTV at University, CTV/CBC/Global at home in Halifax.

Yeah, you most likely get three or four channels over the airwaves: a Global network, a CTV network and the CBC. Then possibly French CBC and anything else that might be in the market there...

If you're getting three, I doubt you should sweat it.

Thanks for the help guys, though you've just confused me more. I'm already picking up 8 channels to some degree, though I have a feeling a couple might be the same except in different languages. Can't really tell with the shitty reception.

Guess I'll shell out for a new antenna. Speaking of, does anyone have any recommendations?

Yeah, take a look at that site... you might have a good selection because there's a good chance you can pick up U.S. broadcasts given the proximity to the border.

I have no idea on an antenna. I don't think there's much choice... probably if you go to Future Shop or Radio Shack, those places might have one or two to choose from.
