French MMOSRPG: Dofus.

It's in open beta right now. It's actually pretty cute in a goofy way and decent animation.

I was just about to post this, looks pretty neat and it's flashed based so you can play away from home.

I think you should change the thread title it's now in english.

From what little I just played, it seems alright. Could you get hopelessly addicted? That's really up to you. I've seen people addicted to worse.

I've avoided all MMORPG's so far just cause I know I don't have the time for it. DroidArena is the only one I really got into though it isn't the same. I'll try this thing out.

Damn I miss DroidArena. Too bad it's not free anymore. There was a time when that game took over these boards. Death to the Silicon Penguins!

Anyway, nice looking game. Flash based, eh? That's interesting.

Haha, oh yeah. Then they said they were going to have another free season after a beta period. So Slayn, Calder and I made up a GA group during the beta and those two really figured out how to make some really great mechs, and I... I ... made a logo! Then fricken DroidArena switched up and it wasn't free anymore. BITCHES!

It got quicker too, got rid of exploring and matches take an hour less or so. Plus a lot easier scripts so you can really make your mech do what you want. It has improved since it was the 'big thing' 2-3 years ago.

Played a bit more, got in a battle with around 6 players and 6 mobs. Some of the classes can do some really, really cool stuff when used in conjunction with other classes. For example: Have a Shadow lay down traps, then have a Scrier's Blood use attraction to pull a mob directly into it. Lots of cool little stuff like that.

Yeah I think I'm gonna restart. The 'fighter' class really really blows, at least at the early levels. You are literally helpless against Tofus.

The quests have been pretty dumb so far too. I'll give it a chance though.

I haven't messed with questing much, just killing stuff. As far as being useless against tofus, EVERYONE'S useless against tofus. Those bitches are tough.

The archers can at least hit them, and those dead guys can bomb him. As a fighter the bastard just walks up to me, hits of 1/5th or more of my energy, and then walks away one step further than I can reach. Repeat until I'm dead.

As far as I've seen those Time Mages can't do much in the way of damage. Are they one of those characters that get really powerful at higher levels? Cause I don't see how slowing them down does anything in a game that's completely turnbased, unless you eventually get them to miss a turn.

And what level do you get more AP? Cause I'd really enjoy having 8 right about now.

The Time Mages get some nice little nukes and stuff later on, including a little transformation spell that turns (The Time mage) into a Mummy giving lots of damage reduction and stuff like that. And You can take a nice little chip out of how much people can do a turn, as well as steal their Action Points and use them as your own. You don't really slow them down, you just make it so they can't do anything.

And I'm not sure if you get any extra APs or not. (That would definitely make the Time mage more useful.)

The art looks cool, that first pic with the cannons reminds me of the Curse of Monkey Island (in a weird way). I may have to check it out.

I just started training as an Iop
edit: apparently it's going to cost 5 euros a month.

Yeah I think I'm gonna quit playing. Looks like you've gotta do a lot of work for very little (all the quests seem to be "collect 70 of these" when the enemies only drop one every 5 matches, and although I know other MMORPGs are like this, in this SRPG to kill 1 enemy takes 2 minutes MINIMUM!). I wasn't feeling the job system either.

Fun though, worth a shot.

Yeah I love the idea. You're just one of the units in SRPG type battles. You seen an enemy and you attack it, and you wait for others to join the fight (up to 8) and you and the enemies take your turns. Great idea and decently executed.

But the only problem is that when there are 8 characters to kill 1 enemy, it takes FOREVER because every character (minus maybe archers or Srams, but then you have to deal with 7 other people blocking your shot) have to move into position to kill it. Some of the guys are so slow that it takes 30 seconds for them to move. So say 15 seconds per persons turn, x 8, that's 2 minutes per turn minimum. Times that by however many turns it takes to kill the character (if it's the Tofus it can take a damn long while because they move so much) and you could be battling a battle of 10 minutes to get 1/8th of the experience to kill 1 enemy. Nice.

However, you can go alone and that's what I suggest for level grinding. Escape the main city, go exploring, and find some respawning enemies that you can handle on your own. The only thing that's stopping me from playing more is the fact that I took a job as a jeweler, not knowing that you CAN'T TAKE ANOTEHR FUCKING JOB until you know that one better (there are forget potions but you have to find a high level alchemist to do that). So now I'm stuck as a jeweler, not being able to make anything because I don't have the material (I was supposed to become a miner first, THEN jeweler to make the fancy stuff, now I'm screwed).

Anyways, I suggest you guys give it a shot. If you have patience, it's a great, really impressive game.

This game would work well with a limited party size...8 players just takes too long to finish a battle..

The actual battle system is great IMO...I could easily see myself becoming addicted to a offline RPG using this battle system, though everything outside of the battles needs work (quests, city design, shops, etc)
