FRIDAY NIGHT [OT2] - Official NeoGAF Weekend Kickoff REDUX

Is it my turn to post this gif?

You Are Wait What GIF by Wahala Room

Everyone's welcome. Not that I have much say in the matter. It's not like I can pack up and move to another planet.
Well I thought I was always welcomed, considering I waited 4 months to be approved for citizenship by a mod.

I hope this time it's different. Unlike you I had to pack up and move to several locations for years. Just recently I finally got banned from GBAtemp

Not sure I understand.

The way to be welcomed into any community, regardless of its size, is to understand the culture and norms of the place you're entering. That doesn't mean giving up who you are. It just means understanding where you are and presenting yourself in a way that minimizes unnecessary misunderstandings. Then once everyone knows you, that's when you can start your descent into absolute nonsense. By then people know you're messing around and not having a medical emergency.

I get that, but it always seems to have the same fate. Whether I act a certain way or not, it always ends badly because of me. I travel a hell of a lot throughout the Internet. Multiple generations of social media for years and everytime I leave, somehow their lives got better. Everything feels numb at this point, more than ever, but it'll never be enough for me to turn bad, for one day I'll keep searching for a place I can belong to. Hopefully (for the 8th generation this time) THIS IS THE ONE.

For what it's worth, I think you're being way too hard on yourself. I've been around the internet long enough to watch communities rise, fall, split apart, and reinvent themselves. Every single time it has very little to do with any one person (thought one can be a catalyst). The fact that you're still looking for a place to belong after all these years tells me you haven't given up on people. That's worth more than you think.

Just don't go nuclear and get yourself banned before you save my number from that DM I sent you. And maybe avoid kicking down the door with some five-hour political manifesto. That's usually not the best way to introduce yourself anywhere. As for the rest of it, communities come and go, people drift in and out, and life gets busy. But you've already got at least one person in your corner. As long as I'm still alive and breathing, you're not starting from zero.

I might be busy, I might be in a different time zone, and I might disappear for a while, but I'm not going anywhere.

Wow...I really needed that, thank you. Those old communities I used to be in, they all gave up on me, but like you said, I still hold on 'cause I love them at the end of the day, even if I'll never see them again (except for one generation lol if you read my stories)
ooooo I love le big lebowski :)
