Reviews:
Nintendo Power: 6.5/10

Impressions:
The game starts out, and I mean like before a title screen or anything, with a classic frogger retro level. You have to get your frog up past the highway/logs/turtles before you can play the game. Once you deposit your frog, the camera pans back and shows a frogger arcade machine sitting outside in front of a building, with your frog sitting on it. Suddenly a huge transport truck comes barreling down the street, knocking everything out of its way, and your frog jumps in front of the camera.....it's a great intro and shows that they put real effort into this.

Gameplay

How does it play? Each level has three goals, reminiscent of how you had to get multiple frogs to the goal in the original. After you reach the first goal, it shows the location of the next goal (usually in a more difficult spot) and you go back to the starting position. You get 3 lives to finish the 3 goals before getting a FAILED and retry screen. This is exactly as the title implies....this is classic Frogger in 3D, supercharged. All you have to do is hop.

What makes the game interesting is my favourite of design philosophies where practically every stage adds a new wrinkle to keep things fresh. Things I have seen so far up to world 3 (about 20 stages in)

-A highway with an overpass
-blocks with frog prints that are climbable which form a maze, with you having to figure out which way to jump off to go the right way/avoid the holes
-Jumping on a huge frog buddy to squish the frog eating snakes
-Pushing traffic cones to pop the tires of a transport truck
-As a steamroller chases you, stand in the right place as a crumbling building's walls fall on you
-Rats running up and down the sides of the building, and if you touch one they swarm and eat you (pretty brutal too)
-Hopping suction cup style up the side of an unfinished skyscraper as girders swing and fall at you (and if you get hit, they're kind enough to pan back and show you fall ALLLLL the way to the ground and splat)
-Hopping from truck to truck and standing in the right position as rapid fire street signs threaten to knock you off (this was pretty challenging)
-Hopping across a Las Vegas strip as ridiculously long limos mess up your window of opportunity to go for it

Basically this game takes the classic gameplay and runs wild with it.

I've always liked the Frogger games. Even those ones on the Gamecube that everyone seemed to hate. The gameplay was still there even if the story was absolutely terrible.

Just played it a bit more, and seriously guys: this is a quality product. Every stage is genuinely interesting instead of the same shit over and over. I just played a stage with four stacks of poker chips, each with paths carved in them where the chips are missing, and those chip sweeper things are moving the stacks around, changing the path configuration every few seconds. The stage also had a secret goal that, when reached, led to a different stage on the world map. There's even little achievements that pop up (I got squished by a rolling poker chip in another stage and it said "Metal Dear Solid") and finishing the stage without dying and getting enough coins earns you a gold frog medal. It's just a really well made, arcade style game.

This post intrigues me. I've been on the fence with this game, and the bad reviews have kept me there. I kinda want it, but I'm not sure... Is the StreetPass feature any good? And does it support Download Play?

Just got this game today, gotta support my man Tak.

The opening sequence is the greatest ever, beating out Space Invaders Extreme.
Haven't played too much though
