Though I've heard the V sign means victory in europe, not peace.


Also interesting to note, the thumbs up sign is a slightly rude childish gesture in South Asia and the O.K sign means zero/worthless in France.

Same deal, according to some. Palm facing out is victory, palm facing in is FU, just with the two extending fingers.

So to conclude:

Palm facing out - Peace
Palm facing in - FU
Palm facing in during WWII - V for Victory (as used by Churchill)
Middlefinger - swivel
