Fun with Dick and Jane trailer (Jim Carrey)

Well, the trailer looked pretty lame, but I'm hoping it's just a bad trailer. Although it still has Tea Leoni in it either way.... I might still see it anyway.

I didn't like that much at all. They didn't push the twist on the story enough "Okay, they robbed a starbucks for 2 cups of coffee...anything else?" It could've used a few more scenes.

Looks pretty good.....but doesn't it seem like the edge is wearing off of Carrey? I imagine it's just age catchin up with him.
I think the "edge" was him overacting and he's been toning it down over the years. Him freaking out in the cafe is classic Carrey, though. :lol

Disappointing trailer (last scene was funny, tho), but I doubt it reflects on the movie much.

I really don't want to see this movie, but I want to know what motivates Dick/Jane to rob. Is this like having sex in public because of the rush of adrenaline? But if they suck at doing it(IE the very non-Pulp Fiction coffee shop robbery) why are they doing it?

And if its Dick and Jane from the "see Dick run, watch Jane jump" books how does that tie into it?

Also the timing is X-mas launch where they usually screen Oscar-calibres and Affleck bombs. Is Carrey going for another Oscar with this or is this holiday comedy schmooze?

:lol :lol

Very early trailer, but the movie is bound to be hilarious. Loved that flip out scene in the Starbucks. Carrey is God.

Why not see it?

I'll give you the plot outline from the 1977 original:

Manager Dick Harper and his attractive young wife Jane are used to a comfortable lifestyle. They just build a swimming-pool when Dick is fired very unexpectedly - leaving him with $70,000 debt on the house. They try to hide this from the neighbors and just cut down their expenses, but soon it's obvious: living from unemployment bonus drives them crazy, it's uncertain if they can keep the house. Dick doesn't see another way out than robbing drug stores - but this takes more skill than expected! Only as a team Dick and Jane can succeed.

It's just a comedy.

Awww no Dick & Jane story book tie-in.

How are they going to convince an audience that the risk of getting thrown in jail for several years outweighs stealing hundreds of dollars at a time?

People declare bankruptcy all the time. People get new jobs when they get fired. It doesn't make sense to me, but I guess if they are just re-doing everything from the 70's.
