LOS ANGELES, CA, January 11, 2005 - G4, the only 24/7 television network dedicated to video games, screeches into 2005 with announcements of a new name, look and feel as well as two new series, "Formula D" and "Girls Gone Wired." Charles Hirschhorn, Founder and CEO of the network, announced the channel's official name as G4 - video game television - earlier today at the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour. The name change and new network look and feel will take effect on February 15, 2005.

Not surprising in the least. I'm glad that they won't be sullying the name of TechTV any longer.

"X-Play's" Adam Sessler and "Judgment Day's" Victor Lucas, two of G4's leading video game experts, were among the "Girls Gone Wired" TCA panelists and provided critics with insight on which video game hotties should make the cut. In addition, sexy video game warrior Jade took a break from doing battle in Mortal Kombat: Deception to make a special virtual appearance.

The videogame culture is games, gear, gadgets and GIRLS???? Christ, and people wonder why people see hardcore gamers as losers. TechTV was dead long ago anyway, the walking zombie that was its remains has finally been put out of its misery. Can I say, "Fuck you Comcast" - I think I can.

I mean, Girls Gone Wired works as a segment in a comedy show like it was on Unscrewed, but give me a break. I find it ironic that they're bringing a segment in as a full show from a show they cancelled though. Martin must be steaming.

X-Play, I mean Extended Play, I mean Gamespot TV actually used to be a good show before Tits McNoPersonality stepped into the spotlight. It used to be about games, now it's about Adam trying to prove how pathetic he is while Morgan sits there and has big boobies.

I was flipping through the channels last night and decided to torture myself a little bit. I stopped and watched Screen Savers for a few minutes. Did they kick the Asian girl(sorry no disrespect ,just don't know her name) out of the host duties already? :lol . That Sarah chick was hosting with Kevin P. The Asian girl was in Sarah old seat by the lowely phone call takers.

I can't stand that "asian girl" (I don't care either, I'm not attempting to spell it) on TSS. Stop talking into the camera so damn much! I don't even know why I bother ever watching the show anymore.

I still like X-Play. It might not be as good as it used to be, but then when you look around G4, it looks brilliant. Tommy tries too hard to be confruntational. The girls on G4tv annoy more than Morgan. At least Sessler doesn't try to be anything more than a gaming doufus. So it works.

Yeah, was wondering that one myself. Maybe they're just doing it for CES, but even that wouldn't make sense. She was a pretty crappy cohost - her contributions mainly consisted of her agreeing with Kevin and occasionally smiling brightly. Sarah at least has some personality, although they may need to get her a little stool to stand on.

Oh, and her name's Chi-Lan Lieu. She's kind of cute, but brilliant TV personality she is not.

Would have been a way better end to the network than what we've just witnessed. At least the TSS crew would have had a flipping chance to say good bye ON-AIR, what the hell was up with that? G4 will be out of it soon anyways, they aren't getting any ratings, they losing the crowd that got from the merger, and I really don't see them staying around much themselves, unless they go for more silly mergers, though I think next time we'll be seeing G4 being purchased.

I've been hearing that too but I never bought that. In some of the very first merger articles they were saying G4 itself was in hot water and Comcast was almost ready to be done with the channel. Comcast buying the channel for over twice what it was actually worth tells me it couldn't have been in that much trouble. Not to mention TTV was starting to churn out a crapload of new half decent shows right when they got bought out.
