GAF, What Is Your Greatest Achievement?

I was rummaging through my closet today and got to look at my time capsule, bits and pieces of my life that my mother had the diligence and care to collect and preserve as the years went by. Report cards, kindergarten scribblings, Christmas cards, photographs...it was an unexpected treat reflecting by myself for a few hours this weekend. So my question to GAF is, what would you consider your greatest achievement.

At 24, I have:
1. Survived a harrowing ordeal with my sister's ex bf, protected both her and my mother's life. If you wanna read into it: http://tinyurl.com/844h2rz
2. Received an appointment to the United States Naval and Air Force Academies
3. Graduated college with a 3.2 (it's not a phenomenal GPA, but damn if I worked my ass off for it...)

quitting a dream job, moving to a new country, starting a company and a new life, then enjoying the profitable fruits of the labor. all during the recession.

Getting a gaming industry job in Community Management after I cancelled university. Not a rich guy now, a pretty low-tier local company and short free time periods, but happy as hell with it.

Also, managing to get a Youtube compliment by Daniel Ingram.

Also, working on an actual game, together with the rest of Ponygaf. Feels good, man.

So yeah, it's a pretty fun time right now :)

Going from graduating in the bottom 25% of my high school to graduating in the top 1% of my university.

Hopefully soon my answer will turn into "being an awesome teacher".

first of all, to the op, way to step up and be the protector. incredible story. hope that dude is doing time.

myself,

my son alexander. he's almost 9 and a pretty incredible human being. i don't view him as my own achievement, but i've been a dedicated father his whole life.

my service in the army in germany and kuwait/iraq. it was a defining experience for me.

i am a master craftsman. i do high end paint and restoration/body work on cars. sometimes i amaze myself at the stuff i can do now.

i'm an artist, and some of my work i would consider great.

i'm 44 and in excellent physical condition. i think i could still do basic or airborne school today.

I guess getting my master's degree and landing a decent job in my own field within a few months of graduating is a worthy achievement.

Being the lead writer of a video game is pretty cool too. Sure it's "just" a fan game, but still.

For me it was graduating first in my university with a perfect GPA. I was so happy on graduation day; I can't tell you how hard I worked for it.

He killed himself.

As for my greatest achievement, I think reaching my career goals at age 22 would be mine. I have a stable full time job in the career I wanted, I have a brand new car, nice home, and a cat.

Guess it's going from VMBO-tl (lowest degree of high school) all the way up to university.

I don't want to sound like a moron but that is not true.. VMBO-tl is the average even. (I'm pretty sure we're talking about Holland). There's VMBO-kader and VMBO-beroeps-something (I don't know the fullname).

It's quite an achievement so good job on that. But there is a HUGE difference between the real lowest degree and VMBO-tl.

Getting my driver's license and getting into college.

When I was younger (I'm 26, got my license with 25) I was REALLY afraid to drive. So I'm really happy to do it nowadays with no fear at all, although I suck at it haha.

Anyone who says it's their child(ren) fails at life.
My kids. :)

Thank God I'm a failure at life.

Not just seeing them be born though. It is a wonderful feeling to see them turning out well and succeeding in their goals. Hope they continue it through adulthood.

In the last year I have:

1. written a novel
2. survived a divorce
3. lost 70 lbs
4. started drinking + smoking pot
5. gotten a tattoo
6. become a runner
7. made all new friends
8. been promoted from Visiting Lecturer to Lecturer.

I am capable of grand things. I am still not happy.

1.Scholarship
2.Threesome
3.Weight loss from being a fatty
4.Survived like 4 near death experiences

idk what else

Professionally, it is getting my PhD and publishing articles in high impact journals.

Personally.....not gonna say on GAF.

Yeah, sorry about that. I meant if you look at VMBO, HAVO and VWO in general, VMBO is the lowest level. There are still different levels within the VMBO though, you're right about that.

Probably the comedy web series that I created, co-wrote, acted in and will be releasing the first of on Monday. I'll post it then in case anybody's interested.

High school valedictorian.
Call of Duty 4 "Mile High Club" achievement ^_^

I fail then. Nothing could ever come close.

...but besides them one of my fanfilms or my race bike would be up there. So many "experts" said I would never be able to make the bike work and not a single fuck was given by me and I made it work anyway.

Blown Alcohol ATV. The Superbeast.

Pushing myself to sing, resulting in singing in front of a crowd of 1000, recording in a real studio and singing on the streets of New Orleans.
