Gal Gadot did reshoots for Wonder Woman while pregnant

Gal Gadot may not actually be Wonder Woman, but there were days on the set of Warner Bros.’ newest superhero film when she certainly came close. Take November of last year for example, when the then-31-year-old Israeli actress, five months pregnant with her second child, returned to Leavesden Studios outside London to finish some reshoots. Her baby bump was no longer inconspicuous, so costumers cut an ample triangle from the front of her suit, replacing it with a bright green cloth that would allow the special effects department to alter her figure in post-production.

Then she got to work, running and performing some fight choreography for director Patty Jenkins. “On close-up I looked very much like Wonder Woman,” Gadot says. “On wide shots I looked very funny, like Wonder Woman pregnant with Kermit the Frog.”

For Jenkins, the reshoots served as another reminder of Gadot’s tireless work ethic. “She’s pregnant during part of the movie, in a suit out in a field in the freezing cold in others,” she says. “There are so many things we asked her to do: Now do it on one foot. Now shout while you’re doing it. Now it’s raining in the freezing cold and you’ve lost your voice, go. Everyday it was a hilarious gauntlet and she would do it.”

“Now, at least, we will be able to tell her [new] daughter Maya that she’s in her mom’s stomach right then, in the middle of that battle scene,” she adds.

For others on the set, seeing Gadot in action was quite a sight. “Part of what we were doing was augmenting some of the final action piece,” says Wonder Woman producer Chuck Roven. “She couldn’t do a huge amount of physical activity but she was being aggressive. She still had to be fierce. That was special. I’ve been doing this for awhile but I’ve never that had that experience before.”

Wonder Woman opens on June 2.

My wife is about 4 months pregnant. I am so going to show her this and be like, If Wonder Woman can do fight scenes, you can change our son's diaper.", haha.

Actually I won't.

I'd imagine that they're very careful about what stunts they can and can't have a pregnant woman do. No studio wants to be liable for harming a baby.

They did the same with Scarlett Johannson back then while shooting Age of Ultron. I was really blown away that this is possible.

Actually a fully pregnant Gal Gadot with the baby bump CG'd out would probably have looked closer to my idea of Wonder Woman.

Though this is assuming she gained fat... which might not be the case considering the army of trainers and dieticians following her.

So...Gal Gadot?

Could they have shot the whole movie like that? Or did they need to use camera trickery in addition to CG'ing out the baby bump during those reshoots?

Pregnant women usually look physically different in other places, too. But like I said... maybe not when you're surrounded by people working full time to prevent just that.

Depends on the person also and their build. I know alot of woman who became pregnant and didnt change that much and others did.

Well, I'm sure that'll be great.
