It's that time of the year approaching

Its absolutely ridiculous this year, they have place only for 6 games, where to even begin?

*Note that its just the game awards, it's really not my personal opinion on quality of the games, hell some of them I have not played yet and I include also future games I think will make it, on a hunch.

My prediction what I think we'll see at the night of game awards for GOTY.

Expedition 33 will win of course. Again, not necessarily my GOTY, I am still debating that internally, It's truely one of my favorite game this year, but for sure at video game awards, I give it the most likely chances to win. It checks all the "narrative" of that show. Poor dev locked at shit Ubisoft immoral practice place that does crunch, they leave and make a game with few peoples and make a masterpiece in the genre? Yea that sells. On top of having already the musicians that made the OST of the game ready for a show at the awards. I think only Silksong has perhaps a chance to maybe make me lose that bet.

Doubtful these will make it to top 6, too packed, forgotten, questionable quality, etc. :

• Split fiction, I think peoples have forgotten about it, but I could be mistaken, It Takes two I never expected to win GOTY so..
• Indiana Jones missed last year's deadline, was really good but I think peoples will have forgotten it. I think it has a fair chance to win best voice actor for Troy Baker.
• Blue Prince, I think Silksong & Expedition 33 just took the indie slots for this years and will be placed ahead of this.
• Ghost of Yotei, no idea about final quality but it would have to be genre defining open world from Sony to make it and dethrone one of the top 6, /doubt
• Monster Hunter wilds too easy, shit performances.
• Doom dark ages, not genre defining

Unreleased I doubt make it :
• Outer worlds 2, I doubt this resonates, can be a good game but I seriously doubt it kicks one of the top 6 out.
• Hades 2, already filled with indies, again, doubt it can kick out a game from top 6.
• Metroid Prime 4 misses the deadline with December 4 I believe
• Routine, we don't have anything except 2025, can it come in just in time and surprise everyone?
• Judas, wasn't this 2025? Why am I even asking, probably delayed

One thing for sure

AMAZING YEAR IMO, I think its one to remember for years to come.

My favorite games this year so far have been Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Fantasy Life i and Silksong.

Biggest disappointment has been the new DOOM by far. Didn't care for Clair Obscur.

Clairs year.

My list this year so far:
Clair 33
Cronos
Silksong
KCD2
Bananza

I expect a slot to go to ninja gaiden 4 &/or silent hill f. Likely donkey kong gets thrown off top 5.

All of that post and Expedition 33 will take it anyway.

But yeah even though reading this forum you would think 99% of every modern game is shit and only 2 good games come out per year, this was a great year!

I forgot how many good games came out this year.
I'm waiting for the year to end before making the thread but I'll likely be beaten to it:

This is the best year in gaming since the coveted PS2 and prior eras.

The list of absolute bangers is staggering!!! I spent more money this year than I care to even admit and I'm not done yet.

With all the new stuff that came out, games I revisited, replayed, first timed, back logged etc I had my favorite year in gaming since I was a kid.

2025 has been incredible to me and it keeps on trucking next week with silent hill f.

It's hard seeing anything else beating out Clair Obscur. What other game shocked(in a good way) and generated as much conversation(in a good way)?

I'd argue it had the biggest non monetary impact on the industry this year out of all those other games. Unless Silent Hill f surprises, I think Clair Obscur has it.

Silksong will unfortunately win best indie over Blue Prince. Blue Prince might win debut indie though.

Yup

And again, this is just a list of the challengers to the top 6 for a game awards, I also enjoyed a ton of B games and still got many to play still, Cronos, Hell is Us, etc. And many 2025 games that just don't have a release date, so I think many will miss also the end of november date to enter the arena, but we'll still be eating good in december I bet.

Shit December alone has Metroid prime 4.

Crazy fucking year.

I am but a simple man with incorrect chromosome counts.

Somehow my retarded ass missed it.
If it makes you feel any better, I also missed it. Maybe it was't loading for whatever reason?

I'd say oue retardarion hasn't been proved my man. At least not yet. :goog_relieved:

Realistically, it's going to boil down to Silksong versus Clair Obscur, and I say that as someone whose GOTY is Death Stranding 2.

Kcd2 is not making it.no shot

Had to look at the 2018 list to remember what was there for KCD 1

JxGRiX8cJKFDVTLz-TsPioufL0zQuxudcwEdy1keFAw.jpg

Can't believe Assassin's creed Odyssey took its place

But I remember also KCD 1 was kind of awkward with gamers early on, it was a first in that genre, peoples were confused about so many mechanics, lockpicking was broken for the longest time, etc.

I think KCD 2 got a lot better impressions in the media throughout its release. KCD 1 to KCD 2 went from 76 → 88 on metacritic, User review from 8→8.7

If they shy away from KCD 2 I think Its by some critique of Vavra still holding still by the journalist committee and it'll generate backlash from gamers I think.

I think KCD 2 I had mistakenly used wiki image and it just didn't load on first post, but I think i fixed the issue in like 10 seconds. Maybe you guys were already in.

I would think Monster hunter is more popular then silent hills or even dunkey kong?

Those awards is just a popularity contest.

Not so much popularity contest for sales because otherwise Wukong would have swept the awards last year.

They want a "this is better than the 7th art" narrative.

While it sold like crazy, MH Wilds will not win any popular vote by gamers. I doubt it manages to find its way in top 6, even the critiques committee there, I think they felt the heat of hyping up this easier and shit performance game.

A lot of heavy hitters this year. It's hard for those early in the year games to win GOTY, so Claire and KCDII are underdogs to Silksong and Whatever else catches on between here and the end of the year.

Just 7 years ago Sony put out 2 first party AAA games in one year.

I think your list is probably dead on, though Silent Hill or Kingdom Come Deliverence might get snubbed to make room for Split Fiction, because, as you said, It Takes Too actually took home the award in 2021.

I think the other four on your list are all but guaranteed a slot, and Clair Obscur is obviously the overwhelming favorite to win.

Its just that we have too many higher rated games that arent sequels out this year.

Ac odyssey..i 100% it 2 years ago when the 60fps patch came out. Took me 215h but i had a fkin BLAST. Imo it deserves its spot.

Monster Hunter Wilds I thought would be my personal GOTY, but until they fix the performance problems and bugs, it doesn't even deserve to be in the running.

Right now Clair Obscure, Silksong & Split Fiction are the most compelling for me, and we'll see how Ninja Gaiden + Hades 2 v1 turns out.

Actually statistically its the opposite, the march-may games have big chances to win GOTY.

2014: Dragon Age: Inquisition - November

2015: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - May

2016: Overwatch - May

2017: Zelda: Breath of the Wild - March

2018: God of War - April

2019: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - March

2020: The Last of Us – Part II - June

2021: It Takes Two - March

2022: Elden Ring - February

2023 : Baldur's Gate 3 - August

2024 : Astrobot - September

Not that many recency bias winners. Rarely November, never happened with an October one.

While I put DK in the list, I don't think it has a chance to win. It'll get the pity award for best family game.

Will still got nomination. Just saying if there is a remote chance of Clair losing, will be for Donkey.

But games got a nomination still earn an increase of sales with is a good thing.

If Clair loses it'll be to silksong.

So many good competitors for game of the year, but it is Death stranding 2 for me, will be game of the year. The game is very big, epic in scale, fun, cerebral, and very addictive.
