Game Boy Advance SP With DeWALT Battery Mod

jshackles

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

The mastermind behind this beastly build is a Reddit modder who took a GBA SP and mounted it on a DeWALT XR FLEXVOLT lithium-ion pack. This isn't just any battery—it's a heavy-duty, 18-volt lithium-ion pack designed for power tools like drills and saws. The original tiny GBA battery? Gone. In its place sits a buck converter that expertly steps down the 18 volts to the ~4 volts the Game Boy needs to function. The result? A rugged, industrial handheld that feels like it could survive a construction site—or a gaming apocalypse.

The GBA modding scene has been going nuts and I love it. BTW Shackles, are you enjoying that Analogue Pocket?
That things been getting a lot of use at my household, but I made the mistake of showing my wife it could play my old Tetris cartridge...

I like the yellow Dewalt case around the GB. :)

I have several small Ryobi batteries; I bought a Ryobi 150watt inverter that also has USB ports.
Need to get a friend to print out a green Ryobi case for an old GB.
